I went for a quiet cruise with a mate last night. me on a Katana and him on a 250 Burgman. I was really surprised at how well the 250 went. Accelerated quite quickly, cruised easily at 120k, sufficient power to overtake and topped 130k.
Part way through the ride we changed bikes. A lot of fun. Firstly I had trouble pulling out from the gutter as I didn't have enough revs and didn't want to over rev it. A slight push off and I was happy. Once it was going it was definitely like a scooter to ride, a very upright riding position. After riding the Katana it seemed strange to have the feet in front with no thigh support and the handlebar seemed very close. The small tyres were very noticeable (a little bit of movement) but the smoothness and quietness blew me away. This must surely be what an electric bike is like ride, speed just continually increasing past 100k at a reasonable rate. Awesome wind / weather protection with just a little bit of fairing noise. A very low centre of gravity so probably very stable when used the rider is more used to it.
Riding the Burgman was a lot of fun and I am sure I would enjoy one of these in the stable. I must try out a 400 or 650. I'll keep the Katana as my preference but this is definitely on my to do list. I think the wife would also be happy with this.
