A good trip on the Akd scooter calender. Sunday 29th. June. Scoots of all makes will be leaving Honeywell, Mt.Eden @ 0900 for Raglan via Tuakau and route 22. Home via route 39 to Rangariri.
Calling all Burgman riders both Akd and Hamilton, meeting at Raglan 1200 onwards. Weather lousey, will reply night before run.. See you there. johnD
A great ride to the Awhitu lighthouse via Waiuku, leaving Papakura Service Centre on motorway south at 1000am, Sunday 15th. June.. johnD
Please note that the run on Sunday 29th. will depart from BP Bombay instead of from Honeywell still at o900am. (Will save at least on hour) Will post note nite before if weather is or will be crap. johnD
That fickle finger has struck again, hopeless this time of year. The planned Raglan run for both Sat and Sunday has been cancelled... johnD
Whats wrong with you Bergermen, the weather shouldn't stop you!
Hey, that Gilera GP800 V-twin has caught my attention, have any of you guys had a look at it? No chance from down here! John.
Then you can do a review and tell us how good it is, make us jealous etc, etc........
nah oldrider the crappy weather didnt stop me did the rrrs course on sun in the pissing rain.
Anyone tried out the older Burg's? I am looking at the idea of getting one, but am on a tight budget - I might have to start out on a 1998 400cc Skywave with low kms. I think it would be a fun alternative to the cage, especially in nice weather.
So far every 250 I have seen on Trade Me or from Suzuki dealers is as dear as the 400cc scooters - there is probably a lot of demand from riders that don't have their full license. I really want to do some touring around the country and think a 400 is more what would suit my needs. I am sure the 250 would run happily at 110kph - but the 400 would do that speed with less effort.
But if anyone knows of a 400 Burgman/Skywave going cheap then let me know.
Might be worth stretching to a new one. Even the old dogs on Trademe are only a couple of grand cheaper.
You might be right - I might have to save my pennies for a new burg 400 - I was watching a ten year old one on Trade Me but with a week left to run it went from 3k to 4.5k. If it is going to cost more than $5K for a ten year old scooter than I would prefer to spend $10K and get the latest model with full warranty and no kms on the clock. They also did improvements on the '07 model including a new motor and improved storage.
So I guess that unless I can find a good 2nd hand Burg 400 at a good price I am now saving up for a new one.
Maybe I'll win the GSR 750 from the doco channel and then I could sell that and buy a burg. I wouldn't mind keeping the 750, but it would cost me too much in speeding tickets.
