    Waihi ride 18th Oct

There seems to be a lot of interest generated so far for this ride. The main group will leave Mt. Well at 0900am and should be at Paeroa around 1000 onwards. That would be an ideal time and place to meet the Hamilton "Chapta", so they can join us over the hill as planned. Put it on your calender as a must do . First of many I hope.. johnD

I was born and bred in NZ my last bike there was a suzuki LC1500. We shifted to Brisbane just on a year ago, I bought a yamaha XVS1100A when we arrived.
A couple of weeks ago I rode a 650 Bergman, it is now in my garage in place of the 1100.
I have joined a club here called MaxiTaggers the web page is www.maxitag.org/index.html it is well worth a look

Waihi run 18th Oct. For o/s scoots and bikes

Mark, from the Magnetos club, will be leading a ride from Burger King, Mt. Well, 0900 sharp. for Paeroa.
To save me and other riders living in the south of Akd doubling back to Mt. Well, I'll be leaving from BP Bombay at 0900, so as to get to Paeroa around 1000.
Those riders from the south, come and join me from this departure point in Akd.
There could be a number of Hamilton and districts riders joining us at Paeroa.
Hope to be in Paeroa early to " welcome " them to the ride.
The masses ( we hope ),from Akd. should be arriving from 1030 onwards. Time for a quick break before the gorge. Now it's all up to the weather gods. johnD

I am planning on being there - I am in Onehunga so Mt Wellington BK is only about 10 minutes away. Hopefully the weather will be reasonable, but I'll probably go on the ride regardless.

I will be going on the ride tomorrow. The forecast is for fine periods and some showers - I don't think it will be too bad at all. I have wet weather gear anyway (over-trousers, over-jacket & over-gloves) which I keep under the seat. It should be a good ride & I am looking forward to it.

I too enjoyed the ride - nice meeting lots of new people including a princess

I especially liked the corners from Waihi to Whangamata & Whangamata to Kopu, lots of fun. Got to show some people on motorbikes how capable the Burgy 400 (the guy on the Harley seemed surprised at how easily I could keep up with him) is, truly a scoot that is capable of over 300kms of open road touring any day. Averaged better than 25kms per litre too.

Upsize scooters. Another ride for you.

I am taking a ride to Waiuku and districts this Sunday the 9th Nov. If you can cruise comfortably at 80-90 k/hr your on.
Join me at the Jolly Farmer at 1000am. Bring your own lunch or take your chances at Waiuku. Trip should take around 5 hrs. Back home by 3.30pm.
    See you then.... johnD

    80 or 90km/h?

A 125 would struggle to get left behind, wouldn't it?

Wouldn't 120/130 be more in line with a Burgman's performance, and keep it from getting boring?

Short answer = yes. But then Balu rides his Burgman differently from how I ride it (). The run out to somewhere like Port Waikato might be more in the vicinity of 80-90 kph though, especially towards the last stretch before the beach.....

Wouldn't last one there buys the round be more fun?

It must be a risk (considering the age burgman riders on here appear to act) going on a long ride, in case you don't make it to the end.

Good one john hope the idea takes off, it certainly works in Brisbane to the extent that we have such fun rides there is now a few cruisers that tag along, and yes with the 650 Burgman they somtimes have trouble keeping up
