Calling all Burgman owners

That's a bargain.

That's what I thought - especially when other older models sell for more than that price. And the colour matched top box must be worth a few hundy as well.

Anyway I should get to Mt Maunganui around midday tomorrow and hopefully the weather wont be too bad for the ride home.

I had my trip to Mt Maunganui today and me and the scoot arrive home safely. Rego is due next month, but it has a new 12 WoF. It did have a reasonably full tank of gas, but after 210kms it is looking a little low - at least unlike my car I don't have to spend $70 to fill it up (and my car is a little 1500cc Cynos, so it is better than lots of cars for petrol cost)

The windy & rainy weather was a bit of a downer, but then I came into bumper to bumper traffic on the motorway - I had to try out filtering through traffic sometime and boy does it bring on a happy feeling to cruise past all those near stationary cages on my Burgy. Saved me a ton of time!

The forecast is pretty depressing for the next few days - but it has to fine up soon, right . . . right? Well I am now ready for it so bring on the fine weather.

I would have to agree.

In my opinion there are many categories of bikers and we don't all have the same views on what a good bike is. There are the sports bike riders, the tourer bike riders, the cruiser riders, the little scooter riders, the classic scooter riders and the maxi scooter riders.

Burgmans are maxi scooters and the fans of such things can appreciate them for the great machines they are. If we get together we can compliment each other on our rides and don't tend to use words like 'ghey' or 'ugly'.

We need to form a maxi scooter group for owners of these scooters and any other similar ones:
Aprillia Atlantic 500
Honda Silverwing 400
Honda Silverwing 600
Piaggio X9
Suzuki Burgman 250
Suzuki Burgman 400
Suzuki Burgman 650
Yamaha Majesty 250
Yamaha T-Max

I think that there might be quite a few other scooters that fit the category too. A quick google finds this site: www.maxi-scoots.com which is quite a good idea - there is a lot of common ground between all riders of maxi scooters. If we organise a get together for the Burgman owners I vote we make it for any maxi scooter owners and happily mix with the Silverwing & Majesty riders.

Not all Magnetos rides revolve around the latte set. Rides to suit everyone is impossible. The club will be having "extended" rides to suit 250cc riders.
Hey dont knock em, at least they are getting out, and the more "big" bikes that come along the better. Maybe then we can establish a sub ride group.
So far there has been little happening on the Burgman scene. All talk and no action. Think about it.

I get out every day, going to work and back. If I feel like 'getting out' in the evenings, or at the weekend, I'll just do it. I wouldn't want to 'get out' with other people sitting in front like mobile chicanes.

From what I can see on the pics on the Magnetos site there are a lot of members that like the classic Vespa stylings of scooters. While some may have no objection to the modern Japanese maxi scooter designs, I suspect many don't like the modern style - to each his own, no problem there. But do I want to hang out with guys that turn up their nose at the type of scoot I ride?

Maybe the "extended" rides for bigger scoots would be OK, but I doubt the maxi scoots would fit in well with their regular meets.

As I mentioned in an earlier post - a get together for all maxi scoots makes more sense - Burgmans, Silver Wings, Majestys and similar scoots would mix well together. Obviously what I prefer is superior, but really how hard is it to see that the Majesty 400 or Silver Wing 400 is reasonably comparable to my Burgan 400 in capability. The sorts of things other maxi scooter riders appreciate in their scoots is going to be similar to what I like in mine. The similar views on scoots is likely to make for a more friendly meet.

We probably need a maxi scooter thread to find out how many of us there are on this forum. This Burgman thread is OK, but it may not be so inviting for owners of other brands of maxis. It seems that there are a few Burgman 400 & 650 owners as well as a Silver Wing owner or 2. Any easy way of getting a head count?

One obvious thing here - maybe we could get together once the weather improves - Spring will be here in just over a week and I am keen to get out more in the fine weather. Why be so negative - just cause not much has happened during a miserable wet winter doesn't mean we wont get keen when the fine weather hits.

Tried the meet up thing before - never happened and died a natural death. Maybe better weather would help - lets see. Why not nominate a date , time and place?

Re Magnetos ride. On the last 'cafe cruise' there were 3 burgers and whilst not everyones cup of tea I enjoy the occaisional run now and again as time and life permit. Yes there are a few die hard Vespa fans, but I have found everyone to be pleasant and not really too concerned about what you ride.

Prior to have a burger I had a BMW and that club consisted of runs 200+ km distance. I never had the time to do that and in 10 years membership I never did a run! In saying that I never went so maybe I got the wrong idea. Why not come on a Magnetos run some time.

If there is a meet, the weather good and I'm not working maybe we can catch up.

i have owned a few of those.
and the big ones are all boring and dull

burgmans and gravel are a handfull, i would not rate them, the susp and small wheels cant take it
