Question Trying to make the pipe louder to be safe!

I have a 50cc yamaha jog. had a few problems lately such as cage drivers trying to run me over and pass by real fast without signal and thru oncoming traffic lanes. manage to go 50-55km or 60 even when the road's clear and not wet. but some people are just rly stupid i guess..

By making my exhaust pipe louder, someone at a bike workshop suggested if holes can be drilled into some part of the exhaust..im not sure where...but this makes it louder and cars may notice me more..especially cars that want to turn into the road at times don't notice me..unfortunately didn't know these things before i got the bike 2yrs ago..risk has increased lately..for some weird reason..and lot more people trying to run me over. lol.

do people get this done? to their exhausts? drilling holes in them to make it louder? also thinking abt changing to wider tyres, which il talk abt in that forum topic on KB

Making your pipes louder won't really make car-driver notice you any more than they do.

The only ones that MAY avoid getting run over will be any pedestrians about to cross the road on front of you..

Oh, and your scoot will most likely run like crap when you 'drill-out' the pipes.

If it was a bike, 250cc and up.. id suggest some pipe mods might help

    However...

I suggest bright riding cloths in your case.

its not the lack of volume, its the lack of people looking. i'm on a TL1000s with two brothers pipes (believe me its LOUD) and i've had three people pull out in front of me this week alone. cagers just don't look where they're going. i'm waiting to get hit so i can put my helmet through their screen..:-) AFTER i'm off the ground obviously.
man, i get angry about the idiot cagers..:-D i don't think i WOULD do it..but its crossed my mind a few times just as someone's pulled out in front of me..

    Save your time.

    Buy one of these:

And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

    Maybe try aftermarkets?

Best aftermarket pipes I ever had were Neptune pipes for my old Honda VTR Firestorm. Used to shake the house when I rode into the garage and all my neighbours hated me coming from/going to work on shiftwork hours... even when I moved north and out into the country.

Drilling pipes will affect the running of the bike. I've learn't that from drilling the cruisers pipes.

I know of another M109R rider who did the same thing and blew the insides of his pipes when riding at circa 240km/h because the baffle housing was weakened from the drilling.

Of course his speed and high revs might have had a tad of influence on this.... I have had not problems, but have not gone excessively fast on the bike.

A dangerous myth. One promulgated by those who would rather blame every one else in the world for theit misfortunes, than take some responsibilty for their own actions. Rant rant...

I'm less than convinced that being highly conspicuous will make any difference, either. Better to look like a hells angel if you want Mr and Ms Commuter to give you room.

In a nutshell--your lil scoot has so little power anyway mucking around with the exhaust is likely to reduce performance to a dangerous level.
To see a life newly created. To watch it grow and prosper. Isn't that the greatest gift a human being can be given?
