Commend the person on his actions Yes. Talk it up because he is a politician NO....

Lot's of people live in the hope it's what anyone would do, if they were at the scene of something like that..

Just because the person is a "politician" the incident and his "media labelled heroism" is going to get more milage than if it was let's say "another passing motorist"....

Spare a thought and a moment or two for the people that are not so fortunate, that people are so ignorant or selfish, or just plain couldn't give a fuck, that they drive past the scene of an accident, and right past someone who is screaming at the top of their lungs for someone to stop and help, as a person close to them dies in their arms.

Good on the person Mr Mark for stopping, leave the political side of things out of it.

As I come from the UK, whether he is an NZ politician doesn't matter a fig to me. I just wanted to put this out there having found it - fantastic piece of heroism, whether he wants to be called one or not.

It always fascinates me that people who do truly heroic things like this are often so modest about what they've done.

    Woah, that's pretty awesome.

I think that expecting the average person to plug a major artery is a bit much. Ron Mark was in the army for like, forever, then he was the head of some arab special forces or something. He'd know what to do, and has probably killed a number of people with his bare hands. The average person (me included) probably wouldn't have the training or stomach to do that.

Good on him though, supprised I haven't heard about this in the mainstream.

OH, right - now I remember that one. I never knew Ron Mark was involved, they usually like to beat things like this up in the media. I guess I've been out of the loop ;D.

    3am snacking ftw.

(I just restarted my lifting training yesterday - resuming training after an extended break always leaves me twitchy and restless at night, as well as ridiculously hungry.)

Good ole Skid!!! Saving motorcyclists now is he???

He's a top bloke, one of few politicians worth their pay packet.

Shame he wasn't in National, he'd do a great job as minister of health....

Hooray! Welcome home! As for the trailer, when I saw it when I rode past (police had just turned up to the scene at that time), there was a definite person sized dent in the front. SO I'm not sure what the person was saying about the trailer driver having slowed down.

Anyway, I hope you recover well

Good to hear you're getting better.

As for the motorised toys, you still have this tiger engine lying around, now, do you? I'm sure the wheel chair could do with some assistance

Good to see you are bouncing back. Now you have time to pick out a new Triumph.
    Get well.

New Daytona on it's way apparently. You would have been going so fast you would have been gone before the accident happened

    thanks guys,

am moved by your support. the insurance companies have been great, got all my gear replaced, just need my leg to come right so i can walk to check out the new rides.

As for the owner of the car that towed the trailer, he will forever feel guilty for not having had the balls to come forward and make amends. I am over it!

All i can say is when you ride, make sure you wear all the right gear, it saved my limbs and possibly my life!

other than that, its time for a beer!
