    NLP and hypnotherapy

Neuro-linguistic programming (usually shortened to NLP) is an interpersonal communication model and an alternative approach to psychotherapy[1] that was co-created by Richard Bandler and linguist John Grinder in the 1970s. It was based on the subjective study of language, communication and personal change, in particular, through modeling three successful psychotherapists, Fritz Perls (gestalt therapy), Virginia Satir (family systems therapy), and eventually Milton H. Erickson (clinical hypnosis). Bandler and Grinder aimed to discover and model the successful patterns of behavior and communication distinguishing these exceptional individuals from their peers.[2][3] Some consider NLP to still be a set of techniques or strategies for enhancing communication and personal influence rather than a model or theory.[4]
Any other NLP practitioners and Hypnotherapists out there?

I thought NLP had suffered the same fate as aromatherapy and MC Hammer, somewhere in the mid 1990s.

Anthony Robbins uses it to great effect... he sells it by programming others to believe in hype and "ra ra" then sells books pointing out how they too can do it

Otherwise no - not I. Looked at it, tried it but I'm too independent thinking it seems...

hmmm yes i have started to believe NLP is just another sales spiel, whilst some of it makes sense, most is purely based on selling the NLP program and because the subject 'WANTS'' to believe its so much easier to sell and keep upselling ....

Tex, as we discussed a while back at Boomers place, it is definitely something that interests me. At this stage, I would have to say that my understanding of NLP is too limited to make a fair judgement. Look forward to catching up sometime and you can tell me a bit more about it.

Anthony Robbins is good this. So too are the better christian evangelists, Amway and BlueChip sales pitches. Spot the pattern.

Interestingly there are no NLP "gurus" who have ever submitted any scientific studies to validate the claims made about the efficacy of this "technique".

Is your assertion that hypnotherapy doesn't work or just this device?

Both may work, but the science is unproven.

Obviously incorrect; as you can see, it's still making money.

Yeah, but what does it actually stand for? Hypnosis and hypntherapy are recognised nowadays as NOT being quackery however what is this NLP of which you speak? Neuro linguistic programming. Aha. Reprogramming the way people think through language. Which is basically a long winded way of saying "persuasion"

No cbt would be much more effective.

nlp is basically as the random one says, being emphatetic on purpose.

    lorazepam is also good.
