The most amazing thing is the average Kiwi's inability to become involved in Politics and to manage their representatives, to use MMP to create the Government you want and need. "Maori" are immensely better at politics than "Pakeha" because they feel they need to manage their fate.
Instead of studying politics and taking an active role in fixing problems we sit back and whinge and let a small group of people select a constituent or list MP who is wildly unsuitable. Because of the "average Kiwi's" attitude to tertiary education, you ignored the intellectualisation of the Labour party and ended up with a Government comprised of individuals who only know the price of milk because they see the little people complaining about it sometimes.
There are people in Germany who have never voted for the actual Political party they support. Instead the support they have been asked by the party they belong to to vote for another party to strengthen a potential ruling coalition.
The French still riot and protest if their Government starts putting commercial or political interests ahead of social issues.
But then those countries have lost everything including huge chunks of their population, 3 times in the last 140 years. Politics matters to them. It can mean the difference between life and death. Us? Cheese gets a bit dear and Interest rates float about.
If you don't participate at the grass roots of NZ politics then you have no chance of making a country that you, your family, or your mates can care about.
