When Edmund Clark sold his 1927 Scott Squirrel in 1957 when he married, little did he think he would be reunited with the bike over 50 years later.
Mr Clark, now 79, was reunited with the bike when his son, Richard, 45, decided to track it down. Richard contacted the Scott owners club via their internet site, who were able to inform him the bike had been purchased by a Malaysian in1990. Richard was able to convince the owner to sell it and handed it over to his father.
Richard said Dad's chuffed to pieces. It's like having a little bit of history back in the family. I'd like to think he will ride it again.
Edmund Clark added It was my son's idea to track it down when I was diagnosed with cancer at the beginning of the year. I didn't think Richard would have any luck when he said he'd try to find it. I thought it quite amazing, the wonders of modern technology. It's just over 50 years since I had it and it was a rarity when I had it. If Richard gets it going again I would quite like to ride it pillion.
