    Should Archer keep racing?

In Light of recent events with Brians bike..please answer the following

    http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...ad.php?t=74796

    A) keep racing softcock ,stop using excuses
    B) the man has a point, how can he be competitive with a mere 160 bhp
    c) should he go back to clubmans instead

He's gotta do what's right for him, but I really think he needs to come to the track whatever his decision.

    It's not just about horsepower.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Your right, its not all about HP, but when the engine should be putting out 180ish and is down to 160, it a pretty good sign that something is really wrong (as the testing has showen). After consultation with Kawasaki Technical, they are shocked that it hasent let go already. It would be a dumb move to spend a bucket load of cash (about 2k) to go racing at the next round and have it granade, costing an even bigger bucket of cash to fix

Only you know what is wrong, or suspect is wrong based on your research, which seems pretty sound.

More so than a KB poll anyway.

Scuse my ignorance B, but how much difference would the cost differential be to source a new engine versus rebuilding this one? I ask because, how long would a rebuilt engine be expected to last? I realise that cost is a major issue but to my mind, you wouldn't race without wanting to win and to win you'd want the best package available...? I do apologise if this seems sarcastic - it's not meant to be. Just trying to understand your dilemma a little better.

unfortunatly, "most" of my sponsorship is in the form of product and cost price items. so I still have to use plenty of my own money

A "full" rebuild of the current engine (approx 6500K's) with my "discounts" is still considerably cheaper than a replacement engine. And I would still have to open up any new engine and fit a few "special" bits.
Also with the rebuild, I will have a "knowen" engine to work with for the rest of the year

I assume the rebuild will perform as well as a new engine? Requiring less run in and tuning?
