Fixing zips

Hihi,

Thanks to K14 being an all-round great guy, I'm now buying his nice old Spidi two-piece leathers one foot at a time. He offered -- I didn't ask

So they fit me perfectly, girls look me up and down, and I look Real Hard with my race boots with worn toe-sliders, full-face helmet, armoured race gloves, race leathers with worn knee-sliders...

...and scarf elegantly tied around my neck, riding a mildly café-racered CB250RS

Anyhow, the zip that zips the two pieces together is poked. It's fine in normal use, but when kicking my bike, I tend to put my back into it

and it came undone. Took me a good 15 minutes to get out of the leathers (zips don't like to go backwards).

Who would you lot recommend to fix this for me? Who can do it cheaply and in a way that'll last?

Oh, one more thing -- about how much does it cost to dye leathers (just one colour would be sufficient)?

If you are at Taupo for tommorrow's Vic Club racing, we're fairly certain that the leathers repair guy will be there in the pits. He does on-site repairs and it's a great service.

In fact we're counting on it as Nasty has bought hers up for a new zip

Won't be down at Taupo tomorrow, not a racer yet, got to do other things like service the girlfriend and take the bike out for a date. Or is that the other way around? Might drop them off at MSW (that's the K'Rd place I assume you're saying?) then.

Miss X tells me to take it to the tailor/dressmaker she uses, reckons she'll do it cheaply. Not sure about that, the zip and what it's attached to look fairly heavy duty. Don't you need special leather-working needles or something like that?

Yup, Kerry at MSW in St Kevins Arcade. Good work, done properly and reasonable price. Can't recall what she charged for my jacket zip, but it wasn't bad.

just had a zip done by "the lady in the arcade" quick service good price and quality job, also had leather pants shortened. Recomend her excellent work

BTW - it's Kerrie. She's done lots of work for me - replaced zip sliders (yes - you don't always need to replace the whole zip!), zips, added armour to my leather pants, leather overlays on my Teknic textile jacket, fixed seams on jackets and pants, let seams out, etc etc. Her work is good, and she charges a fair price. (Having said that, I must've spent over $600 getting stuff done there...

)
