    Hi Dan,

    I am new to KB too but not to riding. Of the two bikes you have mentioned the Honda VTR 250 would definately be the better choice. If you have been looking on Trade Me at all you must have noticed the many Hyosung GT250R's. Have you considered one of those? Very good learning material and I hear that the newer ones ('07+) have much improved build quality. I had an '06 GT250 naked and the build could have been better.

    Indeed! A yamaha designed cylinder head...
    If you want the nicest 250 on the market (at a reasonable price) look no further than the Kawasaki 250 Ninja, if you want an honest reliable 250 to get you through the learner period but cheaper but not a cheapie the Yamaha Scorpio I reckon.
    The VTR and GSX 250's are also well worthy of consideration too...
    The Yamaha being the the most basic of these bike through to the Kawasaki being the nicest of the lot by some margin too I reckon but you get what you pay for.
    The Suzuki GSX and the Honda VTR are as far as i'm aware not available new and i'm not sure of their values on the secondhand market, best get yaself on to Trade Me I guess.

    I ended up getting a GN250. Got a low K one for a good price off trademe. Means I can keep the rest of the money to start my savings for a Speed Triple. I figure I've got a few years before I can ride one so might start saving now.

    Hi Dan,

    Congratulations on getting some gear and getting your BHST, how did you find the BHST? I am booking mine soon and wondered what kind of things they put you through?

    [QUOTE=cheesemethod;1580072]Hi All,
    My name's Dan and I'm just getting started with bikes. Have recently acquired some gear and my BHST, so it's off to the AA tomorrow to book the theory test and I'll be up and running.
