    Righto vmcc 1 GIXser

    Righto.....

Ol' Dodgy Matt and me'self headed of to Taupo late friday afternoon, the usual stops on the way for a few beverages helped the journey somewhat combined ofcourse with plenty of boybanter, about how ' back in the day we were the shit"......(tui ad) i dont know what shit... maybe we were "just that........shit"!!
anyways we had plenty of laughs. stopped in cambridge and helped a fine young woman out with her car that had broken down...
and watayaknow, turned out she was heading to Taupo

She asked if we could follow her to make sure she got there allright
being the overly helpful 'young men' we are we offered to show her the way........she kinda had ""a cat in the corner trapped look" ""when ol'dodgy asked her where she was staying that night..ofcourse just making sure she new where to go.!
Anyways all was good and the lovely lady got there no worries, even invited us back the following day for a beer.... but being the profesional racers that we are, we politely declined and told her we were expected at the taupo motogp round and so we were of on our mary way.

That evening we caught up with Aria, tim, ron and boyfriend for a nice Thai dinner..some big promises were made at the dinner table about the following day .
Believe it or not, Matt and i only had one beer that night and headed back to the unit.....to snuggle up
Archer knocked on our door in the middle of the night dressed as a $2 dollar hooker trying to get a piece but we told him to shoooo off

    Race day
up nice and early off to the track good thing is Ol Dodgy and i think alike in some ways and with no fuss we unpack our stuff and are set-up
Brian Archer was there nice and early and organised the Pit shed, so it was all good all set up and ready for a scrub in Leong Gah, Toast etc turn up and even get the pleasure of Prince trashie himself sharing our shed
i go out for scrub in and its like its the first time i have ever ridden a bike..

Qualifying: righto i think just give it some beans, we head out and im hesitant in corners and the tires seem to slide to much... again after reflection nothing to do with the bike i think, just the confidence of the rider or lack off
    qualify 13 th 141.359 what a shocker...

    race one, F1
and lo and behold, Archer is in front of me on the grid so i focused on the lights, seemed like 5 minutes before the lights finally went out but when they did i got a firken good run passed brian as he was still sitting on the grid, frenchy ended up beside me. i went hard into the turn there wasnt a lot of room to move in there, but we all maged to get out at the other end and the bunch seemed to spread a bit. i was going along ok, apart from my visor fogging up a little and looking through patches of screen in front of me, managed to flip it up for a bit still holding pace, until second to last lap i got taken by a cbr.
ended up 14 time of 138.042..... damn

    race two F1
got a wicked start again passed brian and headed for the turn got good pace going for two laps and stayed with the bunch, then i started tapering of, i have to remind myself at times that it is a race...
firken visor fogged up again and ended up dicing with a sketchy racer who was wickedly good and i really enjoyed it ,almost embarrasing really.. it shows you what a very capable rider can do..
as i passed WT on the side line i really felt for him sitting there knowing under what circumstances he made it that day,, it would be gutting.
the 250 (sketchy racer) kept passing me in the turns and i kept passing him on the straight, poor fella i must have held him up on the last lap in the turns.. but hell i wasnt gonna look back
ended up with a 138.817 11 th position

all in all probably the most enjoyable racing i have ever experienced apart from the actual riding, the buzz in the shed was awesome. i cant wait till manfield, my aim is to come top 8 there. (i just gotta grow me apples in the meantime)

thanks to Vic Club ofcourse for running a awesome event and the marshalls for their generous time..and all the rest of the people that raced and took part
    see ya all next month.

Nice write-up. It's a bastard when things start out a bit wobbly, it can take a while to find the mojo.

As always, great to see you out there racing. Glad I'm not the only one who fogs up... not good when you wear glasses, and probably the reason I don't like riding in the rain! Are you going to Youtube the video you took?
