    F@#%k F@#%k F@#%k !!!!!!!!!!!

Well after weeks of "seat of the pants" testing, and knowing I was down on power, I finally got the ZX10R on the Dyno.
Now with the list of go fast bits both bolt on and in the engine, it would be expected to be putting out about 180+ horses at the wheel,
well.......... 160 huge horses are hauling my fat ass along
Now what really fucks me off about this, is that after some investigation into the bikes history, I found out that the last owner knew it was so down on power when he sold it to me (from the last dyno run he did), yet sold it with an older dyno run as proof of power. I know, I know buyer beware and all that, but he is/was a KB'r that I had run into in the pits a few times and seemed to be a pretty stand up guy.
Anyway, after I had settled down, and after lots of advise from Kawasaki and several well know'n race mechanics, we started ripping into the engine. After testing, compression is at around 105/110 PSI per cylinder (should be 200-220) and it is definatly leaking down through the rings.
It also looks like the cam timing (adjustable race cams) is set wrong as well.
So its tear down and rebuild time.
Unfortunatly, because of my tight budget, this rules me out for round two of the winter series, and possibly more depending on cost, which absolutly guts me.
I suppose the only silver lining is that I will have a know'n engine at the end of the rebuild.

Looks like your safe this series Jimmy

    Poor bugger only 160hp.

That's only equal to two Harleys.....

Piss taking aside I feel for you - there is a bit of $ on its way out of your wallet unfortunately.

What happened to the R1, did you sell it.
Why would you ride that long and that gnarly stuff if you don't have to, Its what we do, we love it.

Maybe you should do some more research before you shoot your mouth off Brian, yes I did try some different cam settings but then returned to the config that was on that dyno run with that exact map and settings, dynos measure differently anyway so the only real comparason is on the same dyno. By the way the dyno runs I had ranged between 4 peak HP

The compression test sounds a little on the low side but it depends how it was measured, the only way to really know if the cylinder has a leak is to do a differential leak down test and also you will hear hissing in the crank case by taking off the oil cap or at the mufflers for ex valves - that would be the first step.
I dont know how you can 'look' at the cam timing they are on adjustable slots on the cam gears and take quite a bit to measure.
The last meeting I did was at Paeroa and it ran fine, I would not knowingly sell a bike with a problem - I also emailed you to see how it was going - no reply..
Not to mention I delivered that bike to Auckland under strange purchasing circumstances and gave you tyre warmers for free!!!!!!

I suggest in future you talk to someone you have concerns with first before questioning someones integrity

    Bummer dude.
Try putting oil in the cylinders and see if the compression readings come up.
Only a tea spoon full of oil though!!! Should show if the rings/bore are buggered.

dude, ithink you should just come, i dont think a few extra horses will help ya seriously, treat this race series a foundation for next year, ie work on your starts,,, as all the horsepower in the world aint gonna help ya if thats not sorted.. dude im doing it for the fun, im not good/or competitive enough to win (+ as much as i hate it im too old)
its just good race experience + on top of that you are racing against 600 hundys, and they have way less grunt...
dont forget its all about fun dude

Something doesn't sound right about that compression test - nearly 50% down on compression but only 12.5% down on power? If they are using compression testers with a hose on the end it will always show low readings, these are only good for checking that all cylinders are the same, you need one that plugs directly into the spark plug hole to get an accurate actuall pressure reading. With the hose readers you are compressing all the air in the hose as well as whats in the cylinder.

Spoke to HD Cycles, who said the last Dyno run you did there, showed 157 HP (what I got got before mapping) and that you "threw your toys out of the cot" and didnt come back as expected.
Then I spoke to GP Honda and they said it had "way less power than expected" and that "it had been messed with"

Already done that, thats why Im pointing at rings

Yes they do, I have been working with advice from Kawasaki and Carey Briers mechanic

The last meeting I did was at Paeroa and it ran fine, I would not knowingly sell a bike with a problem - I also emailed you to see how it was going - no reply..

It has been well down on power since I got it from you. I always thought it, but not having had a 10 before, it wasnt confirmed till it went on the dyno

Not to mention I delivered that bike to Auckland under strange purchasing circumstances and gave you tyre warmers for free!!!!!!

What the fuck has the purchasing circumstances got to do with it, you got your money didnt you????? and you advertised the warmers with the bike as part of the deal
