I'm fucken shaking my head in sheer bewilderment right here. He reckons what?!!!!

How the hell can someone claim to be a motorcycle "tester" for a profession, then publicly state that they lack the skill to actually handle the machine they're testing? There is actually a bit more to riding a bike than "getting the lines right".

I've ridden a K7 in C mode. Once. It was the most gutless heap of shit I've ever had this misfortune of riding. Anyone that can't handle it in "A", needs to learn exactly what the twisty bit on the right actually does.

I'm fucken disgusted a so called professional could make such a claim.

Edit: Bro, point me in the direction of said magazine. I'm writing a letter

He also threw a brand new 2008 ZX-10R into the kitty litter on the same day.

They used the photo of the fucked Kwak on the inside front cover, by the table of contents.

I suspect they decided to make the most of an embarrassing situation by appealing to the average squid in the street. "Look, we're so-called professionals, and even we bin brand-new bikes on pristine tracks when it's not a race. Also, power is scary, and it's OK if you like C mode more. No, really."

Worked for me. I felt all warm and fuzzy reading that shit.

Whereas if you, Mr Trashman sir, were to write bike reviews for the unwashed masses, they'd just end up crying themselves to sleep on their huge pillows, convinced that they were, in fact, closet homosexuals.

Are you really trying to tell us that you haven't yet figured out that getting a job writing for a bike rag has nothing to do with riding skill?

Ain't nobody that can touch me, dude, just so long as it's in a straight line, I'm on my 1400, and they're racing without spark plugs.

Actually, I wrote a bike test once. I and I alone thought it was a boody fantastic piece of unbiased journalism. However, the poor old editor of the mag then had to deal with all manner f fuckwits calling me irresponsible and one eyed because I worked in a Suzuki shop and had done a wheelie and got my knee down.

its just good race experience + on top of that you are racing against 600 hundys, and they have way less grunt...
dont forget its all about fun dude
    Well said mate!

What's the worst case scenario: You are riding a bike with stock hp that is considerably lighter in race trim and has got excellent suspension, so it's still a formidable weapon.

Get some race laps under your belt and rebuild it at a more convenient time so that with all the potential ponies in the corral you'll actually be able to use 'em. If you are being passed by 6 hundy's with 160hp at your beck and call then an extra 20 is only masking the problem.....and believe you me I know this 'cos I'm in exactly the same boat, haha.

You aren't racing for pink slips and if it's a development year then take your lumps and use the opportunity to learn how to walk before you run, especially if $$$ are an issue. It's about fun and actually racing, not comparing spec sheets down at the pub.

For what it's worth you'll hopefully be in a position to do more of the work than I was when I had some drama's with my ol' girl last year. Just to have Welly M/C dyno the thing, identify an obvious major problem, remove /reinstall donk and dyno setup afterwards cost over $2k (a third party rectified the problem) much of which I could have done myself if I was home. Sounds obvious but if you go down the rebuild path then try and do as much of the grunt work yourself and you'll save a substantial amount.

You guys are forgetting archer's point. He got beaten by gn and with all the money he has put into the bike he at least should have been able to keep up with gixxer ......... even as uncle timmay said he can shed a couple of tons

and for riding a gsxr thousand in A that just fucking silly we all know archer will never be able to keep up then

Didnt Sam Smith win the 600 race on an 08 R6 with stock motor and exhuast and only fancy suspension? Surely he was down on power compared to some of the others out there?

Shit man, just stop moaning and get out there and ride the damn thing.

And what did you expect with a race bike - a warranty?? I would have thought you would budget in a freshen up each season? Maybe when you are on the pace then you can worry about 10hp.

Dont ever let yourself near an RS or TZ, you would be replacing rings and pistons each meeting at nats (only takes a couple of hours tho...)

Hey Brian, I know how it feels when things aren't how you like with your bike but I agree with Eddy, Slowpoke and Luke - It's all about the racing - sure, try to get it sorted, but if you can't do it without sacrificing round 2 then do it between 2 and 3. Also you now have a ready excuse for underperforming.....why do you think I ride a 600???
