First of all, if he tail gates you report him as you would anyone else at the cop shop. If you have a witness to corroborate then insist on a charge being laid. Why is this so hard?

Secondly, when someone tailgates you, SLOW DOWN. Adjust your speed to his following distance. Remember the road code? It says 4m for every 10kph. If he's 4 metres behind you, slow down to 10kph. Simple.

I did this only yesterday. Some prick up my arse at 100kph. Slowed down to 70 and he'd had enough. Plus I knew there was a cop further up the road as I'd just come from the other direction so I dobbed him in. Git got a ticket for a dangerous lane change in front of the cop when he got pulled over. See, there is justice in this world.

Yes indeed. I've used this method quite a few times myself, and it works well. I've also had someone do this to me once when I inadvertantly started following too close. Its a good and safe reminder to the following vehicle.

Yes, I agree report them, if he is a cop and he keeps getting reported they can't keep burying it, after all there is a paper trail, and if he is doing what is claimed he will end up killing some one, so take evasive action by slowing down , if you use the law on him what argument can he put forward, as most of you ride in groups there should be enough of you to force a change being placed against him if this is what he is doing,

Must admit when I am in a Car, Van or Lorry and I get tailgated, I tend to use my handbrake to slow down, you so find out if the tailgater is awake or doing it deliberately, And if you get them at night sitting behind you with their main beam on just adjust tour mirrors so they shine right back at them, with a little bit of practice you can get the position off pat every time you need to move them, after all why be blinded by them.

If they are good cops they would do something about the claimed dangerous action discribed, or at least have words over the matter, instead of just letting lie.

I don't doubt it and if ever I experience it I'll be sure to write a lengthy dissitation extolling the virtues of said law enforcer and mail it to his/her boss, the media and a minister or two.

Funnily enough I did this. Slowed down to bout 20kmh cos I couldn't see the road with his lights on full beam right behind me(sounds funny but true).

However the gingaa decided to overtake me on a blind corner without indicating...........

Great, more rods than they thought considering the Nats, weather pretty good and 'only' $530 or so for fuel.

Lotsa Brass Monkey riders going in both directions, met a couple of KBers while C.B. took a comfort stop near Kaikoura - and funnily enough the only bad driving was by drivers of more expensive cars... ferkin' ignorant twats.

A few cops seen but I don't think I scared 'em too much.
