Ever got straight off a thou and onto a GSXR750?

I tried that one day with a K7. Coming off the 07 R1, even with its legendarily soft-down-low (for a thou) motor, the 750 felt gutless in comparison; I found myself WOTing it unnecessarily until I recalibrated my brain after several km.

last time I was at the drags chrislost was cleaning everyone up- inc 1000's, busas and 14s.

mid 10's aint gutless... but never ridden so cant compare.

Oh, not gutless in the SLIGHTEST. Not suggesting the bike is gutless, just mentioning that the difference in midrange torque between a 750 and a thou is quite noticeable.

How about a newly binned SV650, you can use it for a race bike or something. I dont mind a straight swap for the GSXR600.....

Right on the money there Mstr Random! The 600 definitely is capable of doing more then enough kph then I'd want to be doing on open roads. Like I said above, I've just come back from taking the 6 hundy out for a ride around the nicer roads here and it is an awesome bike... They're just not made for being ridden lazily and in low revs. Of course it can do it, but it's not happy about it

One presumes you're going for a GSX-R750, not a thou, though? The thous are fun, but as soon as you get into conditions of low traction, the relaxation you gain from not having to rev it can easily be cancelled out by the stress of having to use sub-millimetre precision on the throttle.

I know I'm still a no0b... So it certainly won't be the thou! Plus could you imagine how much insurance would be for an 18yr old, with a speeding fine already on a thou

750ccs, IMHO, is and has always been the perfect displacement for an IL4 sportbike engine on the road.

Thats why you do this to a 750.....then the 1000's seem like a waste of extra weight

Add a power commander and watch everyone else disappear in your mirrors...

First and only Vtwin I rode was a Hyosung... It's put me off them and they just don't seem to appeal to me! I love IL4's

I know they aren't actually touring bikes... But I'm young and now is the time to be riding one before I get arthritis and forced onto something more "toury"

There's nothing wrong with V Twins, just a different type of buzz I suppose, used to love the mental top end thrash of the inline fours but now I'm starting to appreciate the torque of the V2's and V4's....argh I'm getting old

....although I'm not sure that wanting an 848 or a 1098R classes me as old just yet....

If you haven't already tried a Ducati or Aprillia then do it now, try something very sporty and totally impractical, they will be nothing like the Hyosung.
