iPhone coming to NZ - July 11

Good news for all the gadget freaks.

The new 3G Apple iPhone is officially coming to NZ on July 11.

Looks like a tasty unit. Can't wait to take the integrated GPS on a ride.

I use the intergrated GPS on the Blackberry. (I also have a iPhone).

The main issue is that they dont have the maps loaded - so when you move it keeps downloading them as you move.

Unless Vodafone have an unlimited plan - it could get very expensive to use very fast.

NZ herald etc has it also. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/st...ectid=10515412

but - they are being sold via Vodafone and will be the new model. So if you have 30 of the old ones from Parallel imported - no chance of getting them supported.

... heh, wait for the Apple haters to come along. With this juicy carrot you've brightened their day immensly Forest.

Just got GPS running on my PSP which is cool. Can't wait to get my licence back so I can mount it on my bike and go for a ride. Kind lame trying it out in a taxi

I got up early and listened to the WWDC keynote.

They've just announced a new hardware platform with a 3G wireless chipset and some other new features e.g. the GPS.

Here is the link regarding availability in NZ:

What's the point of a GPS if you need a phone signal reception for it to work? Half of the backroads here in NZ there's no signal at all, and this is where you would need a GPS.

Anyway, nice to have the phone coming this way soon.

ahh batman - you have found the flaw in cell phone GPS.

Thats why tom tom's and Navmans are still the way to go if you need one.

Ahhhh, version 2... glorious! The one everyone should've waited for anyway... Less $$$, more power, more space, and interesting new features (GPS/Exchange support). Still a retarded idea not having a keypad for txting, but then that's Apple....

Will be worth a play to see how it rolls, but more importantly, what the plans are like. Will Vodafone rape us over it?

It might tempt me to upgrade the Ipod touch.
    That is my favourite gadget.

Using the iTube app to save You Tube movies and then being able to watch them on a plane or anywhere. Mint.

Plus carry my photo library and a decent playlist, and a whole heap of drum tracks for jammin and...etc etc

Phone doesn't mean much to me and GPS is ghey.
