It was probably a SOCO, (scene of crime officers) van. They carry ladders and shit on top of their vans.Was coming into Stokes Valley this morning, and saw a uniformed officer pulling over a ute with an unsecure load (and good job too, the ute was dropping shit all down the road, I hope the officer gave him the maximum fine!)
Now the good part, the cop car was a plain white van with tinted windows (like the stationary speed trap vans, mitsubishi L300 or such like), with a ladder and piece of wood strapped on top. I would have happily sped past it, thinking it was a builder or some other sort of tradesmans vehicle! Only the red and blue lights behind the front grill gave it away. So, beware haha

Someone once told me a story of one of their holidays. I THINK it was some place like Italy, or thereabouts. This person was in a tour bus, just travelling along normally, when they past a police car, with lights and siren on, at full speed.
How would you do your job as a police officer, if your vehicle gets overtaken by tour busses! Some countries are way behind, almost comically so.

On a recent thread on TLplanet under the Aussie forum.I saw a camera in melbourne in 1991 that was in a kombi sitting on a jack with a wheel off it.... they are a bit slow over here........
One of the members advised there was a Holden panel van, fully equipped with ladder and the general equipment you would see on a tradesman's car.
They have a video camera, which apparently can be used is court.
They cruise around on roads popular with motorcyclist, sitting just on the speed limit, and wait for you to over take them.
you then get your ticket in the mail, apparently it works quite well.
These Aussies are sneaky bastards.
