Bloody hell, whats with the nervous nellie plans??

Get over it guys it was beyoodiful out there.....

So, here's the ride report for the 2nd Jan Auckers North Ride, attended by myself and MikeL.

AB Silverdale, rolled in at 9:01, after waking up at 8:10, getting up and having brekkie etc. There's about 30 bikes there, good turnout I thinks..... But no, thats the Trumpy OG ride, meeting at the same time same place. So we wait till 9:10, and then decide maybe it was at BP silverdale instead, so we shoot up there. 9:15 and no-one there. Fuel up, and sit around, having rung MD a couple of times to no avail. Then we see 6 or 7 bikes turning left at the top of Silverdale hill, so I suggest that we follow.... Helmet and gloves whipped on, and its off down Wainui Rd in pursuit of unknown bikers. We catch them before Waitoki, after a lucky 50/50 decision to turn left towards KKK/Hellensville at the end of Wainui Rd.

Follow them all the way to the Macadamia Nut Cafe up past Parakai, and introduce ourselves. Have a good chat and a coffee, and then we split up a bit, and half their group goes home. The rest of us (KTM950, Trumpy Sprint ST, R1150GS, MikeL and myself) go back towards 16 at a slightly better pace, and across Kaipara Flats Rd to Warkworth. We lose the R1150GS and KTM at Warkworth, and myself and MikeL tag along with the Trumpy (Martin) to Wellsford (fuel stop) and back down 16 to KKK pub.

Another stop and chat, then we follow the Trumpy along Old North Rd, down Deacon Rd and towards Riverhead. At SH17, we say goodbye to the Trumpy, and MikeL heads for Orewa. I follow, and at Silverdale I peel off down East Coast Bays Rd, and home.

All in all, over 300km, and not a hint of rain. You are all soft..... Still, we had a good ride, and spread the word about KB.

How was your ride for the rest of you soft buggers who tried to run from the rain??
Queiro voya todo Europa con mi moto.... pero no tengo suficiente tiempo o dinero.....

The bad, the good and the wicked!!!

Well I had a mixed day, jumped on here in the morning to find ride canceled due to cloud cover
But a slightly different ride arranged and all was go again, so i start the bike and get suited up, just get legs in 1 piece when she dies and doesn't want to go again :confused2 .
So what do i do, ring my mechanic (KK) and ask his advice, he immediately drops what he's doing and comes straight round with Shady who he was in the process of helping with his bike.
So we try to push start her but she only wants to fire on 1 or 2 cylinders and dies the moment the revs drop.
So in the van she goes and round to KK's house for a strip down where KK and Nodman are trying to work on three bikes at the same time (only one of them theirs), anyway we soon find the fault to be the fuel pump not working, but instead or doing the normal, ie cry softly into my helmet and wait till the bike shops open again and order new fuel pump, Nodman strips down the pump itself, sands up the contact points of the (points?) on the top of the pump, and hey F-in presto she works!!

In this time they've also changed oil and filter on Shade's bike and got the GS to run on all four too!
So all bikes running well and Shade of to work, the three of us go for a bit of a blat around the scenic drive Huia area where we split up as Nodman has stuff to do, but KK and i decide to go back through Huia to a nice set of corners he knows.
we precede to ride these six corners back and forth 174 times untill adventually (sp?) i get my knee down (what a buzz) so then i do these corners another 30 times and make KK take photos of me (had to have the proof )

Friends like KK and Nodman mean more to me than anything, I'd hate to think of how much money they've saved me and how much of their time has been spent fixing my stuff, ie computer, bike and even my cordless nailgun!!

    You guys rock

Oh yes... we did fairly well. I also have no ideas where we were, but all good roads and really really nice lakes and everything. Some of us tried out others bikes, which is a really good way of getting to know how different riding the same road can be.

Oh and the R1 is like WOW. Gets back on the SV650 and I don't even feel like I am moving... must dream R1 must dream R1 must dream R!

Yeah great day more than I planned for but it beat gardening by a freckin long way.

The route we tok was Hamilton Tekowhai Whatawhata Te Awamutu Kihikihi Pawera down western by pass to Whakamaru across the damn then towards Tokoroa up old taupo rd over pukeatua to state 1 then left and Mangatartiri ? around back of kairapiro to cambridge up Kiapaki road to Ohaupo Up Peacocks road then back in Hammy.

Good long ride. I did ask how long you wanted "all day" was the response so there it was a good all day ride !

hahah... I think he won't have mind.... in fact then I would have been able to teach him how.... na... I was too scared to open her up. all I got up to was 7000rpm. But on the way home a Honda Accord Euro tried to race me, as a result I got to know what the steering feels like when the front wheel doesn't have grip anymore

Well firstly my apologies Posh and MikeL but it sounds like you guys had a ball anyways. I did have a nosey at the AB in Silverdale as I went past but didnt see you there. I looked out the window and thought bugger this - it was pretty crappy...I assumed you hardened bikers would have just gone ahead anyways. If Draco had not sent me a text I would not have gone BUT damn what a great day.

Thanks Uncle Quasi for showing us some awesome roads once again but after 9.5 hours on the bike this old duck is rather knackered. The best part about the day (apart from the awesome scenery) was the speed. It was a nice slow ride and I for one learnt a hell of a lot watching the lines of the faster guys. Usually they are gone and I just potter.

And a pile of thanks to Zapf for helping me with the set up of the SV. I think I am just about there with being comfortable with the handling. I hit my top speed ever on it this afternoon. I have had a pretty aweful couple of weeks and the day was just what I needed. Thanks again you lot and nice to meet a couple of new faces.
