Hi there deeanddude, Yes could possibly have a looksee at the bike, if it was going to make any difference.
From the Q & A's the guy quotes
Seller Comment: people have viewed and ridden the bike and and still seem keen to bid on it 5:53 pm, Wed 28 May
So I'm guessing from face value it all looks and sounds good.
There appears to be plenty of interest, so as in any auction , need to decide it's value and not bid over it.
For my mind, I'd be wanting to get it for a good price due to
    1. It's age & styling would make it impossible to replace any of the plastic in the event of a mishap.
    2. Its done a few k's for the motor size.

As I have said I could get around to look at it if it would make any difference. I would be surprised if it goes for a low price and when you factor in bike transport to the South Island as well, you may as well buy something local

warr is the master of honda V series bikes, so I leave you all in his capable hands.
Personally, at that price I would go for it in your shoes.

I thought you would be doing a plug for one of the fine line-up you have in your garage

I've been looking at that vt for exactly the same reason
    Mrs TA getting her license.

Looks like a damn good buy at that price to me.
Unfortunately Mrs TA smashed her car up this weekend ... so I don't have enough funds just now

    VT/VTR250 Buying

    HI,

These VTR's are known to blow crankshafts for some reason.
We got asked for them often at the wreckers and I have a mate that had that issue with one the same year.
Could be down to the type of people that own 250's (often muppets)- or perhaps that part isn't very strong.
With GN's it was heads and never cranks so I believe it's just the weakest link that always shows up with a bike.

Be very careful buying one - esp with the km's it has.
They go well enough and are cheap on the gas, I don't mind going along to check it over.

    Cheers
