Clear coat scratched, how to fix it?

Hey guys, well let me fill you in with what happened, I used some panniers on my gixxer to ride around the south island (they had some nice underside but it didnt stop them getting chafed), i didnt take them off for the duration of the trip and once i did take them off i saw that they had scuffed away at the clear coat. In my novice thinking i got some cut and polish (that was said to be fine on clear coat like on my bike) and proceeded to try and smoothing out the bad lines, now because I did this in a garage with bad lighting it looked ok.. but taking it into the sun, it looks like poos. The polish was crap! and put swirls marks in my lovely paint work and has taken the gloss out of the look! Heres my problem, how can I get them out and tidy it up and bring the gloss look back?? do i have to get it professionally done or is there an easy fix? Ive supplied some photos to show you. Any help would be appreciated!

Best bet is to get a buff on it.

carnuba wax/turtle wax colourfast should help. They're not cut and polish, they're just wax. If you get the turtle wax stuff they make it in a range of colours... go for black

Other option is to catch up with the guys at the paint shop at Ohakea, offer them beer to re-do the clear coat. They'll need to sand it back with fine grit paper, and you'll probably need to get new stickers (PM MSTRS) to put on before they do the clear coat again.

I've used Meguiars Scratch X with success on fine marks. Deep stuff is usually a machine buff or clear respray.

The Meguiars Tech Wax over their polish gives a deep shine on my Hornet.

Also next time you are using the panniers get a good quality duct-tape and tape up the area that rubs. It will only rub against the tape and once removed the paint under is 100%.

Cheers man, Ill try that stuff, any idea where I buy it? Also, yeah thinking about taking it to the paint guys, only ive heard mixed reviews from people.. but Ill go see them when I get back to palmy.
