    "Clean" driver's licence? HR question

I have noticed on a lot of Situation Vacant ads they ask for a “clean” driver’s licence.

What exactly do they mean by this?

    No demerit points?

    No previous loss of licence?

    Or what?

They're just checking how vain you are. if you really must then make sure you wipe it up and they will never know.

spray and wipe works a treat.

Current drivers licence with no demerit points and no criminal convictions.
If its been 2 years since you last one should be all clean.

it means "we don't want assholes driving our company vehicles and fucking them up, or picking fights with other road users." Basically, you have to drive the vehicle for the purpose you are PAID for, and that is to earn someone ELSE a dollar. They are not there to enhance your lifestyle or for your entertainment.

If you fit into this category (you know who you are) then don't apply for this job.

Yup. Its an initial filtering technique that relies on your honesty. Mostly it works quite well.

It can mean whatever they want it to mean. Best strategy is to declare anything along with dates. It's a doddle for them to check it ... all they need is to do what we do and get the prospective employee to complete an authority for the employer to do a police check.

Failing to declare your history if they do eventually find it out can be grounds for dismissal as long as they have the rights words on the application form or letter of offer.

Hmm. A couple of people who have started with us in the last few months might disagree. (They got to stay with us though as their heinous crimes were 20 years ago and they're all growed up now.)

That's a stupid question for HR to ask, They should be asking for the number of demerit points you have and a copy of your licence.

Then when you get the job they can log your licence details into the LTSA system and they will be notified if your licence status changes, expired, disqualified etc.
Lead, follow or get the f*%! outa the way.
