We are thinking of going as well, i be meaning to pick your brains about how you got on with camper van and so on, there is gonna be about 6-7 of us going (me & wife, sister in law & husband & friend of his, father in law)

We wanna know how you got on with using the camper van we looking at maybe getting one for all 6 of us, and then also maybe a tent,(cause all 6 don't think will fit), Where best place you would think to park the camper van if etc, any info would be great, cause we gotta start planning it also

Maui & Phillip Island did a deal this year - check out the P.I. Track site over the next couple of months (as I will be). I believe it was for the 6-berth campervan but don't know if it included the price of the camping site or not.

Definitely a powered camping site at the track is the way to go. There're bus's all over the island for minimal cost & you can lock your gear up in the van all day while you're enjoying the racing. And while all the track info said "NO Alcohol" they didn't search our van when we arrived. :sly:

I've just booked flights via Brisbane (weird!) leaving Thursday morning so we can hit Melbourne with enough time to pick up the campervan in the afternoon. Then we're booked out of Melbourne on a 13:00 flight on Monday - enough time to get the van back & get out to the airport.

While we're at it - air horns under the seat. Which way are the pointing? Forwards or backwards? Both together, or one each side? The Man is going to fit them this weekend for me.

    Lucky bastards.

Saw the 2005 rule changes the other day. Nothing big apart from the one that says races won't be stopped (only for motogp, not 250's or 125's) if it starts to rain. The riders will have to pit. This will make the viewing of the races even more exciting. Although I don't know if it will make it better for the riders.

If there is a group of you going then try looking at the Real Estate companies on Phillip Island as many of them have fully furnished houses to rent in Cowes. Buses to the track etc. We used Stockdale & Leggo 2 years ago & had 10 of us stay worked out cheaper than staying at the track campground.
    www.phillipislandre.com.au/
there are other companies offering houses as well so look around it wont be hard to fill a house full of Kiwi's
Last year stayed at a campground 10 minute walk to the track but there is nothing left available at this time so start booking now.

Last years plans fell through so this year its all on again. I'll either be flying into Brissie and hiring a bike and riding down with a mate an a few cobbers of his then return ride to Briss....... or and hopefully this is what will happen I'll fly into Melbourne were I'll meet my mate that has ridden down with his mate that has to fly back to Brissie for work..... this means I get to ride a brand new Cagiva Navagator back to Brissie, over 2000k of awesome back block rds.
Ohh and yeah I'll be at the GP and staying in Cowes
    cheers DD
