    Cool Classic Bike run today at 1.30pm

    All the classic bikes are going for a run today.

    Meeting at Challenge service station Corner Triangle Road and Don Buck Rd at 1.30pm today ( Saturday)

    Word has it they could be riding around Riverhead....

    It won't be a fast pace....as these bikes are real classic's...

    Cool twas a great wee turn out of bikes...

    We did all up approx 65kms and ended up back at the Swanson RSA.
    It was a nice run with all the older bikes... there was one or two break downs... but over all those bikes went at a cracking pace... there were a few newer bikes in case anything was needed.... and there was also the Vintage cars out on the run as well. So who ever organised this run.... they did a wonderful job and the weather held as well.

    Here's where we went.
    Start Challenge Service station,
    left at start Triangle Rd,
    left at Bellringer Rd,
    Left at T (Kemp Rd)
    Left at Royal Rd.
    Left at STOP (Don Buck Rd)
    Straight ahead until right at Red Hills Rd
    Left into Birdwood Rd
    Stay on this road right at Birdwood Rd... (the road has a strange bend in it)
    Right at Swanson Rd
    Left into North Candia Rd
    Right at Pooks Rd
    Left at Chevron <<< Follow until Give way sign turn right.
    Follow this road cross railway tracks
    left at Give way (Swanson Rd)
    Straight ahead passed Waitakere Rd.
    Follow Scenic Drive until Right at Bethells Te Henga.
    Follow until Right at Bethells Rd.
    Left at Duffy Rd
    Right at Stop sign.
    Straight ahead at Give way.
    Right at Give way
    Left at Township Rd
    First right McEntee Rd
    Left into Amreins Rd
    Follow on, left at giveway (Taupaki)
    Right at Stop (Helensville sign 29kms)
    Follow Waitakere Rd.
    Left at give way Hanham Rd
    Right at Pomana Rd
    Right at T (Kumeu 3km sign) Tawa Rd
    Left at Kumue (Twin coast discovery sign)
    Right at Matua Rd
    Right at stop (Oraha Rd)
    Right at old North Rd (Kumue 3 km sign)
    Left at Stop Riverhead Rd
    Left at roundabout (Coatsville Riverhead highway)
    Left at School Rd (pass Kauri Gum store)
    Right at Newton Rd
    Right at giveway straight ahead at roundabout.
    Left at Stop (Waitakere City sign)
    Right at roundabout (Don Bucks Rd)
    Straight ahead at roundabout
    Straight ahead at roundabout
    Right at Chamberlain Rd
    Left at Birdwood Rd
    Left at Glen Rd
    Proceed to Swanson RSA. - BBQ and drinkies.

    There was a bit of backtracking over a few roads, but that made it fun seeing the other bikes trying to catch up..

    Cool Back tracking...

    It was the way the route was all mapped out....by the organisers..
    After coming back over the same road it was like WTF.... oh well...
    Plus we were all following the leaders... so we all figured that they knew where they were going..... :spudwhat:

    Piccies.. I wish I could put some up here, but I don't own a digi camera...


    It was a neat ride thou, lots of windy country roads...

    The dude I went with umm discovered that he had no brakes at a certain corner.... near the end.....but he got to the finish ok... went home to sort the brakes out... when something goes on these old bikes they just go...

    One guy's tyre blew just as he was coming into the garage... that was it for him.... had to get the van to transport his baby home, without doing the run.

    Someone else I heard had trouble with the gearbox on their bike...
    I guess thats the joys of owning a real classic bike...

    A few old Nortons, BSA, Ariel's and Harley's were there.

    If I'd been more awake and heard about it a bit earlier, I woulda been there... only saw it at 1:25pm
    Queiro voya todo Europa con mi moto.... pero no tengo suficiente tiempo o dinero.....
