Endurance races are for the purists - they show who can ride consistently fast WITHOUT CRASHING (hands up who can't ride fast for an hour without binning it).
Trouble is people win by laps not milliseconds - sucks being bored AND confused.

Scrivey - doesn't suit your meeting - sprint races are better when you're hungover from 10 days of holiday-drinking. Also you'll need the long track so I can nap down the straight.

Long track or Pukie and I'd be a starter.

Aye, there'd need to be live timing etc so's not to bore the titties out of the spectators.

    Paul nixon endurance race

The Southland club run this every year, they run two 40 min races split but either track times or classes (cant quite remember but I’m sure f1,2 and 3 were in the same class with street stock, classics etc in the other).

No one needed fuel stops (I had around 7L in the tank of the 125 and still had some left at the end of it) and at 40 min you get a perspective of what it's like for the MotoGP guys but without the 30o+ heat.
They also managed to fit in about two rounds of sprint races afterwards too.

Hope it all happens endurance races are great fun and a real test of strength, I was absolutely knackered after 30min but really enjoyed it.

Too slow with the other bikes out there.

We need to con someone into lending us their 600cc something.

Id talk to Vince Sharpe who ran the very last 2 hour race there. He put a lot into it with promotion etc and as I understand it the event made a loss. Id love to see endurance racing but you would need to go into it with eyes wide open re the cold hard reality of the costs against return. The reality is actually quite scary.

Great Idea!!!!!!!! (the endurance racing part that is)

But could you pick a shitter track to do it at? If I wanted to crash into some armco i'd go racing on the highway.

Personally, the sooner puke is either shutdown or bikes are banned from there the better.

Oh dear, there has been a bit of softness creep into the sport in the last 20 years hasnt there.
People bleating about perhaps hurting themselves while racing a bike, Maybe getting a bit puffed from riding for a bit too long etc.
    Honestly guys, HTFU!!
I did the Puke 2 hour on worlds 3rd GSXR1100 an old G model with chassis number 0000003, I got clocked at 248kmh on the backstraight on virtually every lap & finished respectably.
15 minutes on the sidecar is five times harder.
By the end of 2 hours you an the bike are absolutely one, The tyres are fucked & its bucking & weaving all over the place with the throttle pinned & you are so used to it that you dont give a fuck.
That would be the best riding i have ever done.

Umm 'Poos, So much hard work??? The fuckers actually work & the tyres stick, The suspension is FINE & they are light & nimble.
Dude!! The reason they are lapping faster is because they work better, i imagine the effort to operate them would be similar to 20 years ago.

Just bustin an idea out here. What if AMCC ran a meeting where every class got just one race. BUT every race was 30 laps
Thats roughly 30 minutes of racing per class. Not exactly endurance --but gee wouldn't it be different to sprint races

yep thats true...but the G-forces are alot higher...especially under braking and power...much in the same way a new rig is faster and more demanding on the driver and passenger of 10+ years ago...

Maybe we can just agree to disagree?
