    1988 Kawasaki GPX250 won't start

I hadn't been on my GPX for a week & went to start her up the other morning & she wouldn't start for me. I opened the choke & gave her heapz of throttle but no go. She stays outside normally, under a sail shade type cover, so squeezed her into the garage and tried again the next day (as silly as that sounds, but I just thought seeing she's not as young as she used to be a bit of warmth housing might help), but still to no avail. All I get when I attempt to start her for too long is a tapping kinda noise. She was fine when I last rode her, starting up as normal & had no probs. I was thinking of buying a new battery, but would just like a heads up on any basic checks I could do on her before spending any unnecessary money. Any help would be appreciated.

The tapping would be the solenoid going "click"

Throw the battery on a trickle charger for 24 hours and try again. Some bikes don't like choke and throttle, you may have flooded the thing. Try full choke and no throttle once you have charged the battery
