I'll be keen on my POS, but need to get it there from hamilton.
Is there anywhere a bit tricky to ride there that we could use for trials?,if so I'll bring my old TLR200 down so some of you can try out a trials bike.
In and out of jobs, running free
Waging war with society
Ahem.
Mrs Random decided earlier this week that she wants us to get a pair of dirt bikes.
Of course, the shiny green KDX200s I see already in my mind's eye will not be affordable for some time.
If this event goes down, and any KBers are feeling generous in spirit enough to loan Mrs Random some sort of helmet that might fit her and give her a wee go up at Woodhill or somewhere on a beat-up old offroad 'sickle of some sort to get her motorcycling tastebuds a-tinglin' (she's never ridden a non-push-bike, but she's very coordinated and quite athletic, and I can give her some parking-lot control lessons on the Zeal) we'd be eternally in your debt.
And don't worry, I'm not asking for anyone to test their bike's suspension and their own fears of having it wrapped around a tree by letting *me* on it.
In the meantime, I'll just be off in the corner, over there -----> trying to recover from the shock.

I have a few old helmets next time i go down to the shed I will have a look. KDX's are cool bikes man you can buy a second hand one fairly cheap and the cost bugger all to keep going. hope to see you at the ride. I'm hoping to head out to thundercross valley bike park this weekend for a scouting look so I will bring back a report on the place.
Cheers.
DATE STILL TO BE CONFIRMED

My RM is actually still up north, but it'll be here in a couple of weeks. So I'll be keen, provided I have my bike...
Yeah hopefully i can buy myself a kdx200 in the next month or 2. Think there are some decent trails around chch to go on. I'm arranging my timetable so i will have afternoons free for most of the year, lol.

I talked her out of it.
I've been thinking about going dirt riding for a while. I used to have a dirt bike, many years ago when I still had hair, and also did quite a bit of boogeying around off-road when I was a professional sheep-shagger and work was light (I'd just jump on the trusty-crusty ole XL125S and go for a ride round the farm). Thems was the daze.
Dunno that my crusty-rusty body'd be up to it nowadays, but I reckon I'd still have the skills (such as they were).....
... and that's what I think.
Or summat.
Or maybe not...
Dunno really....![]()
I have to ask... WHY on earth would you do that? (I mean you must have good reasons but it seems strange from here...)Originally Posted by vifferman

The only reason I only ride in the Iron man Class is I have no friends left to enter the two man events,
my own fault really.

Worse you worry about them hurting themselves esp. on the road. I used to ride with an eye almost constantly in the rear view mirror.
So it sounds selfish, my girl wanted to learn how to ride so I arranged a bike she could ride in a field but she chickened out as she didn’t want people esp. me to laugh at her. This made me reassess things so I won’t be offering to teach again unless she really gets keen enough to grow some confidence.
