Actually, congratulations! Now if you make sure and be a bad influence, you could be a great grandma before you are 60! Never give up the dream!

Your right......you can give them back.

My philosophy on being a Koro is that it's payback time. Spoil the kid then give it back to the parent to deal with.

I told my daughter that I didn't want to be a grandmother till I was at least 50. Few more years to go yet, and luckily we've managed to avoid it so far.

As my mother insisted that Anita call her 'Grandmama' ... which we have stuck to (albeit with slightly ironic smirks) for the last 20 years ... I've advised Anita that I shall refuse to respond to anything other than Granny (like in the Beverly Hillbillies - shotgun/hobnail boots, or Granny Weatherwax from Discworld)

She insists that she is going to get her kids to call me Nan ('cos she knows I hate that the most) ... at which point I plan to pretend to be deaf and buy myself one of those big ear-horn things and go "What? WHAT????" and only answer when they learn to call me Granny.

No I am not a Pom - I just sound like one ...

Two years ago I became a grandfather at 41, my partner was 39.

We had managed to "drill" into our daughter the importance of contraception (she's 24 now) but the boy at 17 1/2 snuck in under the radar.

Once we got our heads around the situation - they wanted to have the baby - we really couldn't do anything less than support them 110% and our lives have been the richer for it.

We have the privilege of seeing him every day as they are now living at home. Tonight when I went downstairs to feed the dogs, he came with me.(He loves the garage and he can't get enough of the bike as well) I grabbed a torch, turned it on and gave it to him once we were outside. You can't buy any drug that beats the emotional buzz that you get when you watch a small child experience something for the first time.

Like the first time he was sitting on my bike - up on the tank so he could get to the bars - and I fired her up. A sharp little draw of breath, and he looked up at me with a half grin that let me know that he was in on the "secret".

    It's cool.

    Real cool.

I became a Grandfather at age 40 (just made it), my wife was 38. Was a bit if a shock to the system when I thought about, so I just stopped thinking about it and got on with things. Love the little guy to bits - he's so much fun, and he lives with us too (along with his Mum and Dad).

Know a girl who was a Grandmother at 28 (yes, do the math !!!)

Thanks Alastir, That means a lot. I've got used to the idea now & am looking forward to it. She's asked me to be there for the birth, which I'm stoked about. Her mum will be there too, but she said Terry needs supporting too

I have done the same with both my son & daughter about Contraception, but just occassionally the pill or condom lets you down & this is the case for my son.
There was NO thought of abortion (Thank God!), but the kids are having a hard time from my ex & his wife. They want the kids to get rid of the baby cause they are too young. Thing is my ex's wife has just dropped a baby & they are 45yrs & 40yrs. How can they lecture when they are going to be Old farts when the kids grows up.
    Guess Who??
