    Endurance race Dec 29th

I am just fielding interest in an endurance race on December the 29th at Taupo, the day after the Taupo Road Race Spectacular.

I thought this may suit competitors that have travelled over here, to stay 1 more day, and get to race and/or watch an endurance race.

Chris Lawrance and I are keen to run the event, with lower entry fees as per our meeting, with trophies for top placegetters, and trophies for classes within classes. The track would be the long track, and classes would be what YOU the racers wanted. The length would also be what YOU the racers wanted. I would like to have two separate races on the 1 day, a longer race for over 600's maybe, and a slightly shorter race for F3 etc. (open to your ideas).

Can interested peoples please reply to this thread, and if there are enough genuine entries, then we will proceed with the event. 3 great days of motorsport action - petrolhead heaven!
As I have always stated, I would love to see an endurance race, and if I can make it happen, I will.

I'd be very keen. Your idea of an endurance race is a little different to AMCC though so what are you proposing? 3 hours? 4 hours?

Transponders would be a must, can't expect some poor bugger to sit and count laps for that long.

Any chance of making it a national title? That'd attract some of those oldies you keep harping on about

    Super idea Skrivvy - what say 200kms (= 1hr 50ish) for F3, PT, 125s & motards (!) i.e. just one all in `F3' class and 500kms (=3hrs 50ish) for the 600SS class and Open class?
Maybe too long but nice round numbers.
I think the more prestigious the event the longer the races - people will be happy to trash their bikes chasing a big trophy but not so much for a roll of duct-tape.

That sounds like the weekend at Taupo we're all taking our buckets to, so we'll be there anyway, and was thinking of riding the Hornet through (so no, I wouldn't try and do an endurance thing on the bucket, 1 hour was long enough!!), so I think there could be a few bucket type folk with other bikes that could be interested.

Don't be silly! We all know Ducatis won't last an endurance race!

Excellent idea,Probably need to do some maths and calculate the entry fee thingy to give people more of an idea of cost.Mike Perrin and myself organised a similar event at Manfeild back in 94 and it was awesome til someone came along and turned it into a money gobbling monster and destroyed it.I would definitely be there no matter what the cost but some others might not.Good luck

thats for frigging real... and please make sure there aint any snow, cos an endurance race in the rain/hail/snow tis NOT a good thing, tho it DOES sort the real racers out from the others...
