As requested, here's a few piccies of our aborted lap of the Coromandel....we didn't get very far, did we!!!

Big thanks to Caseye and Voltaire for their help getting the bikes out of the van and into the shed once we got back to Headroom Heights. Much appreciated.

It's no stretch of the truth to say that today's events could easily have resulted in at least one, & possibly two funerals. Very relieved and thankful that Dodgyiti and Shae(sp?) are dealing with comparatively minor injuries.

Heal quickly, guys.

Surprisingly good. In fact, considering the hit the bike took it's little short of amazing. We noticed a broken fin, but it appears that the head protectors Dodgy had fitted did a good job.

Although, As I pointed out to him on the phone last night, if he'd still been riding a BMW he wouldn't have been trapped under the bike and he'd have only scuffed a rocker cover.....

not to mention that the good ol' GS would have gone straight through the trailer and continueed straight as if nothing had happened

seriously guys, lots of luck in that accident by the look of it - those rocks dont look soft, and practically no shoulder on a narrow road to start with

Bloody hell guys that's far to much drama for one day. You don't have to tell me about that sickening feeling when you look at your old classic lying on the road. Its a bitch. Glad to hear your all ok. Sounds like Dodgyiti needs to buy A lotto ticket as its his lucky week.

Well! what can you say? Not the best of outcomes, but given what happened it's great that you guys are still alive to enjoy Christmas.

Nope. Perhaps it might look like that from the photos, but the boat guy was in fact trying to avoid running over the head of the 1100 Sport rider who'd just had a big "lose" and was was still sliding along the ditch on the wrong side of the road. The boat guy's quick thinking narrowly missed that potential fatality, but the boat trailer couldn't cope with the g-forces, jack-knifed and broke free of the towball. The boat & trailer then slid sideways and rolled over the top of Dodgyiti who was still sitting on his bike but had just stopped to help the 1100 Sport rider. Without Dodgy's reflex action to drop the bike and duck for cover, he would have been either squashed under the boat or impaled by the trailer.

Hard to explain the quietness of an accident scene when you're first to arrive. Quite surreal...

a freaky accident that involved a large bump in the road , a car and boat combination and some unfortunate road positioning as a result of hitting this large bump.

Oh I got the wrong impression of the events from the above. Thanks for that Max. So it was another biker that sparked the whole thing off, what a bugger!! Shit sounds like it was eveyones lucky day and then some!!

if i had not stopped straight away to help him i would have hit the 4wd head on, kinda karma really. bad luck but could have been a lot worse on so many levels.
i know this screams first aid 101
because i am in h&s as part of my job and just did my refresher with red cross 8/12/08 so checking my own safety before going in to help others would have ment roding another 50m to where max stopped. good plan but when a guy is lying on the road on a blind corner, his head in the path of traffic- what would anyone do?
they would stop as soon as and get him moved or he would be a goner if run over. wel thats what i did
the 4wd driver deserves a medal, he swerved with 1/2 meter from the uys head, i could see flattened watermelon in my head but he avoided him, and careering into me on the other verge but the boat and trailer didnt, it was airborne when it hit my bike the dent in the tank is the chassis by the mudguard. very violent but as i said it could have turned out very much worse

I was riding the Max, great to hear you guys are all ok. Have a great christmas and enjoy. You both know how close that was atleast we can all talk about it and reflect. Look forward to meeting up with you guys again sometime.

can't help but wonder what the $ damage might be to all the vehicles and what's the situation with the insurance(s)

i know any little thing on a bike can cost a small fortune and that boat doesn't look as it would float again any time soon
