Cool.. Damn cheap parts. Makes me think
Nice to see you are taking it in your stride. Hell! My speeding has cost me near double that in the last 4 months

Hey! maybe someone can set up a pity pledge thread for me

LOL Crocodile! sorrow yes, Pity Neva!

Further to Voltaire's comments, like him I am appalled at the no Insurance(not even third party) aspect of this.
earlier this year I asked State how much for third party fire and theft on my old girl and got told it's only third party,No Fire and Theft, and it was going to cost me the princley sum of $24.00 per annum, Yep I said $24.00.
Last year I insured a car with them and until I asked about the third party for my bike I'd not done any other business with them before so it's not that I was a known or privilaged customer.

    OK from the top.

The two riders mentioned above were not members of the BFTP group but invited guests.

Neither were insured at all.(Unknown by us, who'd ask?)

    A provisional Licence!@#$???.( didn't know that)

Our two up visitor expressed a desire to go quicker than we had up until arriving safely and mostly together at Kopu.

I invited him to go ahead of the main group and told him we'd all arrive at Coromandel at our own pace.

While I'm very glad that Dodgyiti is still with us and mostly in one piece, I'm very upset that there was an accident at all and in particular that it was totally avoidable.

My apologies to anyone who read my original post and got the impression that the car/boat driver was in any way at fault. He wasn't, he lost a lot making sure that a rider wasn't more seriously injured after already crashing into a rock wall .What happened after that was completely out of his hands.
Every day above ground is a good day!:

i have had 3 accidents in 25 years and over 350,000kms in 5 countries
in all that time i have not had an insurance claim against me.
of my 3 accidents, not one of them was there an insured party.
i insured my first big bike in 1985 and it cost $930 pa which i had to get finance to pay the insurance! at the time as an apprentice i cleared $97 a week (the dole was $113)
the next year, and every year after that i let the insurance lapse because it was not viable to maintain, food held more importance from my meagre wages.
when i turned 25 i insured my road bike again because the rates dropped at that age, it still cost $530
then i let it lapse until this day saving me potentially double what the bike i crashed is worth.
yes i could hit an expensive car next week, but that is the chance i have taken over the years. chance lessened by riding sensibly though

i have this week, rung around for insurance. there are some good deals out there but none seem to fit what i really want, which is the bike im on to have full insurance for unlimited kms.
instead all i can find are deals on per bike and the 'classic type ones' say under 5,000 km a year
the bike i trashed has done over 25,000 this year

the other 2 crashes i lost about 7k in today's money because the persons at fault had no insurance

so all in all, my lack of insurance over the years has not had a negative financial effect.
yes luck had played a part in that, and i dont feel as 'lucky' as i did after this recent hiccup. so i think i am actually going to get full insurance because 3 out of 3 accidents and no one else had any, so i think full as opposed to 3rd party is the go.
the way cars devalue, our bikes are most likely going to be harder/more expensive to repair than the damn cars we may hit

anyone got a majic insurance policy for full insurance on multiple bikes with unlimited kms?

for a grand or less a year for say..3 bikes

    Insurance

I have got the VCC club insurance on the two 30+ bikes at around $120.00 pa each....but as you say 5000 km...etc.
The 900ss is insured thru Go Lightly in ChCh...for $530 for 10k and this covers gear too. Excess is a bit steep at $500.00 but its the first daily rider I have had insurance. I am as guilty in the past riding in NZ for no insurance but having lived in Ireland and England its unavoidable ..but saying that its more affordable as everybody has it.
I think Max has a good scheme on his R90S

yes, its the milage limits that kill me insurance-wise
10k and gear is good, may have to disconnect the speedo for 6 months of the year though. yes i rode in the uk and (oh dear) wales and petrol was expensive enough, let alone insurance.

max only has that deal because the insurance company think it's a car
and who can blame them i'm sure he pulled out a wheel brace and a body jack on the side of the road the other day, although i did take a bump to the noggin

good scam, i mean scheme alright

    insurance

opps....the $540 and $10 k refered to the value of the vehicle...k's are unlimited!!!!

with the classic one, its agreed value and the customer sales person said it was basicly around $120 for up to $10k...over that and it increases sharply.
500cc BMW and Ducati 900..same .....go figure.

i say it was a freak boating accident, because they 'assume- cause it's me' it was bike related and i dont want my incident affecting our already outragous acc levies on the rego
my acc form says 'hit by a boat on the side of the road'

i got the ambo to put that down on the initial form, clever eh?

and you thought i wasn't thinking about statistics at the time?

    Hey Mike:

Remember, 90% of all Guzzis ever made are still on the road.

i would commit suicide before driving that through henderson
you know guzzi was asked to design the motor for the early fiat bambi?
that is how the correct formation twin engine was born. and it lent well to being a motorcycle engine because if you toppled over while straddled on it the cylinders would not break your ankle due to the gentle sloping v
not like the other twins with sharp sticky outie cylinders or those ones where the back cylinder overheats and the front pipe gets crushed in a tiny little prang
maybe i could bolt up my 1000 high performance engine in it from the black beastie

Now that would go a treat with my spare Z1300 engine in it, especially if I put the turbo on it too
