I like the cycle works "slash" pipes myself.
The GS had one on it when I got it but it was poked, so I made a stainless steel replica. I liked the look and sound.
Then I found an old cycle works canister and it sounds even better.....

I think they still go with that period though.

IMO, chromed 4-2 OEM/replica pipes bring far to much bling, to an everyday, road machine. Just my opinion.
Motorcyclists are like pilots..... There are old ones and bold ones. But there aren't any old, bold ones.

Sounds not everything. Does it go better?

Can't really say, since I have put the new pipe on I have set the tappets, re-cleaned the carbs and vacuum synced them.
The bike does go better though.....

Many folks don't rate the Cycleworks slash pipe. It's only because they don't appreciate the versatility and potential of the basic design.
No way, looks cool- I like it a lot.

Cycleworks are good by me, love the trick stainless system I have of theirs, was good for 7 R/W hp straight out of the box- did before and after runs on the dyno so no illusions, real horsepower!

    have the exhaust all sorted:
silencer cut, grinded, repositioned, welded, grinded again,
then rear bracket removed, bent a few times for a perfect fit, cut, grinded, welded, grinded again...

no injuries, not even a swear word
