Good news is I'm about half way through the rebuild on a new set of forks

I literally stepped off the bike as it was going down and didn't get a scratch... Could have been a whole lot worse.

alive, i find it kind of weird that you happen to have bought that extra set of forks not so long ago and even though at the time you had no real need for them
but now, they certainly come in handy, eh?

Hey just thought I'd drop you guys a line!
Anyway I'm keen to come out one day but got knocked of the old girl on New years day last Xmas. First time she's been down in the 18 years I've owned her anyway.
I can sympathise with Alive! It bloody hurts to see your old bike hit the dirt. With the old girl layin there and you thinkin OH Shit! why did that stupid cager have to do that to her and what am I gonna find when I lift her up!! Still rode it home though that's a Kwaka for you!!

That prompted a complete strip down and repaint the frame etc. Not turning it into a show bike as its a rider and always will be! Not to much damage! Lucky I had the race 4 into 1 on her and not the original exhaust. Here's a pic.

Second pic is the only bit I can't buy new! The dash surround. Anyone know where I can get my hands on one, even second hand!

Just thought I'd post so you didn't think I was full o crap! Thanks all CYA out there soon!

On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

reckless, that's a nasty damage to the gauges surround/dashboard
at first i didnt see what you meant but then when i saw it it really hurt

while looking for a spare i think i'd want to take that one off completely so at least it's not a constant reminder of that awfull day...

i assume a dashboard could be made out of fiberglass?

Once I stripped it no damage to the gauges just need to straighten the base plate etc. Damage looks worse then it is. I'm lucky it, the 900 and Z1000 are cult bikes so I can buy new all new bits ie stripe kit, screen, Fairing, foot pegs & side covers etc etc So it will probably come up better then ever before. I have most of the pieces of the dash surround so could probably repair it, if pushed. Someone will have one somewhere. I hope!

Was nice to meet everyone today. Could not have got a better day for it, the wee bit of rain when we stopped was only to remind us of our luck.
