    Yeah!
Don't take all the Auckland ride stuff as the end all of BFTP, it's NZ wide and is what you make of it.

    Truer words never said.

You guys outside Akld may need to do a bit of legwork locally to build numbers up enough to make regular ride groups.

If it's any help you can print out this picture and cut it up to use as little invites for suitably suspect individuals. Leave them on bikes, windows, at shops, on community notice boards etc.

Guaranteed you won't regret the little bit of effort when you are blasting along with a group of like minded bike enthusiasts

I don't seem to be able to post pictures in this thread... ??

Howdy all! Had a great Sunday riding from Drury to Raglan then to Hampton Downs to finish.

Thanks to Cmoore for the Hampton Downs idea to get us motivated (what a pity the open day was a month premature) Also to Psy for the Raglan connection, Dodgy the oily Eyetie for making the wet bleed tar even slipperier , Volie for keeping it real with his newly running gem 'Teh Toaster', Mr & Mrs Seedy Gonzales for showing us the way.... at a good clip and Futura for braving the unknown to ride with us loons.

For all you procrastinators who couldn't make it....... check out what you missed out on

Check the duty free Tissot Moto GP watches on your way back. They try and clear this year's version about now. Last year I got a Nicky Hayden one for $590 NZD

and sold it on Trademe for $685

Thanks for that croc, I forget this thread requires a notice too.
Even if it is a short notice quick fang.

So you will remember all the settings and guff for the 'arsecam' this time?

I have some single sided low density foam tape if you want to dampen your camera mount. I can bring some over the Shore with me one day if you want to give it a try. I remember a thread on KB a few years back and a guy tried that with some improvement

Thought I did this time but....

I have some foam and rubber tape (prolly similar) but think most of the issue is in the spring/bounce of the cantilevered bracket so doubt if it would help in itself. If I stiffen the mount first then add the tape to take out any harshness of vibration caused by the stiffening...?

    Stiffening

Sandwich the foam tape between all mounting points, it should help.
How are you going to erm, stiffen the mounting bracket? Epoxy a brace along it?

The camera is quite weighty and is mounted on one end of a plastic camera stand bit which in turn is end mounted on the end of a longish strip of 1.5mm steel about 25mm wide so it has a whippy action not dissimilar to a fishing rod with a big lead weight sat in a boat road holder while bouncing along the waves. The mounting point is the base of the speedo (which is rubber mounted) and it's wire tied to the top of the speedo. So there is the issue of flex in the speedo (Rod bucket) and the flex of the cantilevered section of the bracket (approx 150mm incl the top plastic mounting doodah off my camera tripod) Shit!... I'll go down an take a picture.. But anyway, I reckon all the flex needs to fuck off.

I had thought I might abandon it and modify the Givi bracket that I installed for my radar detector. Problem is, the Givi bracket position where mounted would leave half the camera exposed to rain and insects and the edge of the screen would be in the middle of the picture and there isn't a suitably located mounting point for it. So that idea is a bit of a dead duck.

I think a lot of the problem is the flex in the speedo. If I firm it up, it should fix it.... I think? The bottom of the first pic right of centre is one of the two bolts and rubber doodahs at the base of the speedo (and tacho) bracket. I need to brace the top of teh speedo somehow

I'm too shy to ride with a group that big... not the peeps, just the shear number of them. If the numbers are closer to 20 I'll have a look
