    Noooice move

Ok. Stick with it, it's a little confusing, but funny.

Me, travelling South on SH1 toward Welly & stopped at bottom of Haywards, waiting to turn right to go to Porirua.

Oncoming traffic, going North (derr) is slowing for red light on their side. A biker lane splits and cuts through to front of Northbound queue. Sweet, methinks. I'll give him a nod as I turn right (light phasing means I go next). Then....

...another bike, going North also, filters into left turn lane as if to go up Haywards like me. Sweeter, methinks. It's a 250 (?) communter bike, so I'll blast past him on the way over Haywards. THEN...

...bugger me, he immediately turns right and back into the 'on ramp' North, which is a free turn and so he's off ahead of the traffic waiting to go North at the lights and tootles off into the sunset!

LMAO. Sooo funny to watch... I laughed all the way up Haywards

If this was you....noooooooice move. Feckinhilarious.
It's back..."Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

Sounds like he's setting himself up for a damn good rear-ending if he tries that too often. He should lane split with the rest of the humans.

Thinking about it, it could be quite legal too, done right ! cheeky !
But risky if manxman had gone for it ! A T bone in the making !

Light controlled T intersection (motorway is the top line of the T you see here) but with free left turn turning left (coming from the i of intersection) and a free turn coming onto motorway turning left coming up to the top line toward the d of controlled !
He simply saw the red light which his mate had made it through, on the top line, so turned left from the i of intersection, then swung round an island and headed off toward the d of controlled

There ya are gubb ! Confused now ? Try reading that 4 times lol

I'm pretty sure there's double yellows right there, so if my memory serves me correctly then it can't be legal.

Any ways, that left hander can be taken at a decent speed (in fact in the right conditions one hardly needs to slow down for it at all). Right about where the dude will be turning a lot of people will be looking almost over their right shoulder to check that the oncoming traffic hasn't got the green yet, so all it would take would be for Mr. 250 to encounter somebody coming down the hill, have to stop for him, and he's toast.

    Not a wise move.

Agreed ! Not a wise one but would have brought a smile to my face seeing it ! Perhaps a shake of the head while i held his hand, had he fucked up !
Personally i would have been on my mates back wheel while he lane split and made the lights ! but then that leads to more speculation as to the legallity of doing that aye ?

Thinking about it a little more (should stop that i know but it just happens)
What about the traffic coming out of the quarry road to the left as ya head up the hill ? traffic coming out of this road are allowed to cross the yellows (if there are any ?) to head onto the motorway north !

Think you are right though, a cop would come up with some ticket for him had he got snapped but i like it !

I just checked a video I took riding past there - no double yellows but a traffic island with a gap in it for traffic coming off the other road. Still, legal or not he could get just as fucked up if he comes unstuck one day, traffic can come up behind pretty damn quick.
