    Honda C50 lighting

    Hihi,

Took delivery of my C50ZZ Cub today. It does an indicated 70kph, so well chuffed about that Thought it was farked at first, but then I realised (after remembering Korea's bucket thread) that not all gearboxes are made the same, and this is `race pattern'. Got it into first, and suddenly I had a neutral and it pulled OK.

Leg shields are great in the hail, btw.

Anyway, this is a C50ZZ. Points, 6V. I have no lights unless the engine is running. Only a horn. It appears to have switchgear from something else attached, so High beam is swapped with low beam, there's a missing space for a clutch lever, and there is a Park Light switch (that also only works when the engine is on).

    I have no indicators whatsoever.

Mainly, before I start pulling things to pieces, I wanted to check whether it's normal for there to be no lights (but a horn) when the engine is off. The battery is making a healthy 6.5V or so, and the bulbs are certainly intact. Also, no front brake light switch -- normal too?

The no lights when engine off is common on small commuters, the lights are run from a separate lighting coil. You should still have indicators and a horn running from the battery, perhaps park light too.

The C50zz should have a front brake switch

Ah, freaking sweet, where'd you pull that one from! Awesome. Bookmarked.

Yeah I think the switchgear is pilfered from something else. Can't see why there'd be place for a clutch lever. Also explains why the right hand switchblock keeps moving around even when tightened up.
