    Go the Big 50 Boys!

Heard that Matthewt, Mangell6 and Bugsplat have successfully done the South Island portion of the Big 50 - due to finish late Thursday/early Friday.

They headed up to Hawke Bay/Bay of Plenty yesterday after a hearty breakfast in Wellington.

They were going to be staying in Tauranga last night.

Safe riding guys! I hope the weather is kind to you.

    Being frustrated is disagreeable.

Just been speaking to a psuedo family member of Mike's and they made it to Tauranga OK. The last couple of days have included 10 hour breaks, so they must be going OK.

Just the top half of the NI to go.

I am also envious, but if the GSXF works out I'll do at least the 1000 miler this year.

They're staying with me tonight, so I'll try and get a progress report from them (if they're coherent) and post it on here.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

Well, Matt and Mike (and Steve) successfully completed the third day of their epic ride yesterday, on schedule, and I saw them off (slightly late, because I was blathering on again :confused2 ) on a typical D'Auckland day: plenty of liquid sunshine (drizzle), 20 C, and icky. Mike seemed a bit stiff and achey but looked OK, but Matt looked really tired and unenthusiastic about his last day of riding. And who could blame him? It's a Biggun!

They're mad, mad I tells ya!

I feel like such a dick, and such an inhospitable host; first I kept them up all night long yabbering away about all sorts of crap, then I made them late this morning. And I could have at least given their visors a damned good Plexusing before they left. My bad.

My surprise is that for the South Island leg of the Big 5 0 they only needed to get pictures of SH7 and SH8. They could have done both by doing a quick fang down SH1 to Washdyke to get SH8 and got an SH7 sign at Waipara either coming or going. All of the other signs they needed are to be had in the North Island. They must have had the luxury of time if they were in Nelson.

Yeah... I think that is what they did, crossed over on Sun morning shot over to Nelson for a look at the races then back to picton were they camped out the nite.
IIRC the 50 thing started in Welly Monday morning, so they joined up with the others in picton when they arived..... then shot down SH1, cos I heard em flypast tooting at bout 9:30 in Belfast...... bastards woke me up.

IIRC, they said they were going to go / did go as far south as Timaru, so I dunno what Sarf Oiland stops they made.

By the way - did anyone hear from them last night or this morning? :spudwhat:

I've been a bit worried/guilty, seeing my hospitality only extended as far as keeping them up late by blathering on about all sorts of shit, then making them late yesterday morning by doing the same, but not as far as cleaning their visors with my Plexus supply, nor to accompanying them on the first leg or two of their journey southward, choosing instead to come to 'work' and spend the day going quietly ever more insane and annoying people on KB....
Crikey! That was a long sentence...
