I reckon Ixion has the best idea so far, cheap and easy.

I got stuck with this problem for my bike. I mounted a warning bulb into the top of the headlight. Drilled a small hole and fitted it, looks okish. Used two diodes (one coming from each indicator) and one bulb with mount from Dik Smiff, got the tiniest diodes I could get from Jaycar. Dik Smiff only had huge things which were as big as a pencil sharpner. Works ok, but to tell the truth, I never look at the dam thing as I can see the indicators when they flash. The high beam warning light came already set into the headlight, no diode, just an ordinary bulb mounted in there.

(You might just be able to make out the indicator warning bulb on the top of the headlight in my profile pic).

You will need to run a couple of wires from the indicators which means you may end up having to cut into your wiring loom. So you could end up doing some tidying up work with a bit of heat shrink, as well as a bit of soldering of wires and diodes into the circuit.

    Good luck

If you can see the indicators, can you put an LED poking out the back of them so you can see them from the riding position ? Tidy, simple, and clean.

If you want to use a single lamp, you can just connect it without diodes as long as you can mount the bulb without earthing either wire.

One wire goes to the left hand indicator, one wire goes to the right hand indicator.

    True.

Yesterday in the cage, waiting to turn right downa side street.

Bike comes out of gas station further down the street, blinker indicating a left turn (why do people do that when they leave gas-stations when their angle they are siting shows they are NOT going to turn right?).

Bike pulls out and heads towards me, left bliker still going.

"Aha I thinks, he's got to give way to me as he's turning left"

BUT I also thought "Has he left the blinker on by mistake?"

So I sat there and sure enough, bike goes straight through, still with blinker going.

Easliy could have T-boned me if I took his blinker for face value and turned on front of him.

In my last job, the last km or so of the ride was down a suburban street with multiple streets off to either side. Apart from the very last interesection, I had the right of way at every intersection (about 6 or so, at a guess). I remember one morning thinking, "WTF is wrong with these homicidal fkn car drivers! They all seem intent on going despite the fact I have right of way!"
Then it clicked - I'd forgotten to turn my indicator off after the first intersection where I'd turned left on to this street.
Man, did I feel such a cock.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....
