    Strength?

I've never quite known what people mean by that in this context.

Personally, when faced with a decision, I just try to do whatever's more moral / less stupid / potentially profitable.

I suppose it helps not to agonise over decisions that aren't options, and be content to work with what life throws at you day to day.

I dunno about this 'be thankful for what you have' bullshit. What I have is what I have, and probably entirely the result of my own calls, for better or worse. If I didn't want more than what I have, I'd be abnormal, and should probably go get some testosterone replacement therapy.

But it's amazing how savouring life's simple pleasures can remind one that each moment we live and breathe is priceless.

If they care so much, is the book free? Probably not. Do they want you to tithe 10% of your money? Probably yes.

Religion=slick packaging to get money from sheep.

Imagine if all the churches sold everything they had and bought food for the starving. Imagine that!

What do you want to be in life, a sheep, a sheep dog or a wolf?

    Carry on....
    Ride, eat, sleep, repeat!

I think mine comes from having a bit of short man syndrome. And who likes failing? Thats how giving up feels to me.

That's a daft but brilliant picture. It captures perfectly the only kind of strength I can guarantee to summon up, physically, no matter what the odds , I refuse to give up. A kind of cool hand Luke boxing match sty-lie. You can run me down and kill me but I'll still get up and bloody your nose.

Alas, emotional strength departed this fella many years ago and it don't look like it's coming back anytime soon.

If anyone does know how to revive a broken heart and mind , I'd love to hear it.

Some people go thru more shit in life than others - that is my experience. Whether we want the shit or not we get - how you react and deal with it is the test. I wouldn't know what an easy life is. And it hasn't been a case of "all my problems are of my own making" - some have been yes - I take full responsibility for them. I gave up asking why many many years ago. Sometimes we will never know the reason, sometimes I have felt the lesson has just been one of utter cruelty. I do not wallow in self pity - and you know when you are in a pity party - I have never settled for mediocrity so yes I will get shit in life - I just wish there was some balance occasionally. A friend recently said to me "over the years I have seen you go thru hell and back many times over and you always bounce back" = why - god knows cos at times I haven't wanted to. How = inner strength = it doesn't come from outside = it comes from within = looking at yourself, changing your attitudes, beliefs, behaviour. I can only trust myself - those that have partners they trust, can talk to, who support them in every which way =- hell I don't know what that is like = never experienced it. In fact the ones that professed to love me and would "say" so - but no action ever took place were the ones that either wished me dead or wanted to kill me = the latter was a ex husband = just because I left him - they (2 of them) and my father shitted on me the most. These tests make you stronger - well hell I don't want to be any stronger - people are intimidated by it. I could write a book on the subject.

Awww that sounds awful Martybabe! Think of it this way - if what happened has made you feel so bad, it must have been a pretty awful experience. But you've faced it, and come through, still functioning. If it happens again, you'll cope again, probably better than before. So love like you've never been hurt!

That is also a sign of strength. To be able to give up when it is going nowhere. many times it is so much easier to hold on to something and carry on instead of facing the unknown. Ending a bad relationship would be something that would fit this. When I, after 16 years, gave up in the end I felt like a failure. But it was the best thing. And to do so I needed heaps of strenght. It was really scary actually. But from somewhere inside I got the umph to do it.

May the bridges I burn light the way.

    I dunno.
    Its just in there somehow.

I seem to have 'stone-faced' heroes or icons that inspire me: Clint Eastwood types, strong-silent, who don't let the world see what is really bugging 'em - but get on and deal with it, kind of thing.

Plus, the occasional joint helps - not all the time, just at times of extreeeeeeeeeeeeme stress to smiley me up a bit, cos I am normally a smiley type, and people around me know: if Jen's lost her smileyness, everything can all very quickly go a bit Pete Tong.
No I am not a Pom - I just sound like one ...
