You were riding a motor vehicle in a cycle lane. How does that seem legal to you. Either:
    A. Dont do it cos it's illegal.
    B. Do it cos it's illegal but don't whine when you get caught.

Exactly, cycle lanes are for Bicycles, the ones without motors.

Policy on expired regos is no warnings if overdue. No compliance possible nor is there a grace period (used to be if within a month... blah blah). If it's long overdue you are kinda asking for it really.

Seems the comment about cyclelane use is completely OTT in the circumstances.... unless of course you were giving 'attitude' or it was being sold to you on the "hey you could get two tickets here but I am nice and only giving you the one" routine.

Out here in the rural rump the local body politicians can't figure out why less people ride cycles than do in Napier and Christchurch. The extensive cycle lanes are largely ignored. Obviously the Councellors don't ride bikes or they would notice there are more hills hereabout which make cycling hard work.

Upshot of all this is that we have lots of under-utilised cycle lanes which is nice for riders of mopeds.

Of course one does need to be aware that this is against the law and if seen by a cop who rates this the most heinous crime being committed in the Police District at the moment it will cost. Human nature being what it is I'll be pissed off, but it won't be the first time, and I doubt it'll be the last...

Who says shut-up and pay-up NOW, huh???

For all those KB'ers who reckoned I was fucked and should "take it like a man",etc....
I recieved a letter from a very nice and polite Policeman by the name of Senior Sergeant B R Healey (Abjudication Manager) empowering me to carry on my life withOUT being $200 poorer.
I must say this has totally impressed me, after all, it was a long-shot ask for leniency and begging for forgiveness for a transgression serious enough to have the electric chair re-instated by the NZ Justice machine.
This has allowed me to see the Police as a "fair' and "understanding" community....not the totally corrupt organization I've always believed and seen them to be!
Soooooooooo......shame on all you peeps who thought I was the naughty one, Mr Healey believes in my soul and thats all that really matters to me

Well done, I think... Your 'sorry' letter is on speed camera paper yet you got the ticket from a cop-cycle. Do all letters of retraction come on speed camera paper?

... and they sent you a bonus piece of brown paper too!
That could come in very handy, for things like covering up your details when posting to on-line forums.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....
