ZXR250 missing at mid revs

Hey guys

Recently bought a 89' ZXR250A. Its done 70,000k. Apart from starting issues. (seems like a fuel problem, need to rock the bike forward and backward for awhile while is idling otherwise its dies) the bike coughs and splutters trough acceleration but really doesn't like it around and about 8 to 10,000rpm.

Think it's in need of a massive service which I'm am going to do soon also going to attempt a carb balance.

any thoughts?

Give the whole fuel system a good clean. Especially the pilot circuits inside the carbs. ??

Yea once i take it all down i will make everything on it sparkling clean lol
