If it's ok from an A/V source then it could be the tuner or the aerial socket, assuming the aerial's all good. Is the sound good, signal problem (including a stuffed or low gain tuner) gives lots of noise on the picture ie snowy looking.
Sound is perfect... have had other telly on this aerial and works perfect....

Sounds a stupid reply, but can you fine tune the set,if the chanels are ok maybe a tweak with f/t screw will do the trick.

Sure you wanna go mess around in there? He's not joking y'know, this electricity stuff can kill you.
Had a similar but less damaging (debatabley) experience as I withdrew my arm past a fold out circuit board on a Phillips K9, I got a little too close and got teleported through time and space (12 feet in a millisecond)... Yep we had a beer at the Oko, my son was with me and my mad brother in law was on his GN ... he's the lawyer with no bike licence who only has one speed on the GN, full throttle. He's nuts but at least we get free legal work

I was always shit scared I'd electrcute myself. I was installing a teletext kit on a Panasoonic tele once (it wasn't switched on of course) and a co worker thought it would be hilarious to sneak up on me and yell. I jumped back and cracked the board at the end of the tube with my arm, and the tube neck... the tube was rooted as the vacuum broke and air hissed into the tube. He had to pay for it and they weren't cheap then lol.

Never said anything about the CGA...

Small claims court might work but you'd need to convince the judge that the dialogue took place.
That is correct, you would have to convince the adjudicator of that, which shouldn't be too much trouble, all they do all day is civil disputes, they're not stupid.

I'd be reluctant to start mucking around with the innards of the TV for two reasons: first of all the health risks associated plus the fact that if you don't know exactly what you are doing you're likely to make it worse and second, if you dick around with the TV you can not honestly try and get your money back.

And yes, you should be able to get your money back. imdying is right - they are not allowed to misinform you during a private sale. That said, the trader could honestly have believed that it was the aerial so I'd advice you to contact her in a non-accusative manner and say that the TV isn't working satisfactorily.
It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

    Howdy...

I decided to cut my loses. Put it back on Trademe for 150 instead of the much larger sum I paid.. Put good working cond which it is (its really only with words on the screen you notice it blurry)-suit kids rumpus room etc and also as is where is. It sold within the day. You dont get a shitty 14" for that price so I hope the new owner will be happy. As for the lyn piece of ass I purchased it off... Karma will sort her out.

Been there done that. Had a nasty tattoo of a circuit board on the back of my hand for a while.

Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true ... they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so all are easier to fool." -- Wizard's First Rule
