No haven't tried Budget - think I need to take another day off work to get round all these places. I had no idea there was so much to try on in CHCH. Reckon the Cargo Dragons suggested by HelenOfTroy look the best so far - wondering if I would feel safe in them on a very hot day with a pair of KNOX style knee protectors? Still think I want leathers for cooler days anyway. The hunt continues...

And as for Nick - if he's really that young I need to recalibrate my radar! I'll have to go back just to see if I'm really so far off the mark thesedays!
Lmao!!yes Its the cute Grant you eyed up!

Personally, think having leathers & the Dragins work well for me.The Dragins(with knee protectors)are great on hot days( wear them on the trail bike way more than on the Duc). You are welcome to see mine, try them on if we are same size(10-12)

BADGRL...yeah Budget in Wilsons Rd is who D will be talking about.....

Na, if hes got what ya want then fine, just dont expect to return them after they leave the shop, and if ya try em on there ya own em, and watch how he treats his workers.

untill you arse off, remember they are only jeans with a couple of kevlar patches in them, in resulting acco I have seen these patches riped out leaving the remaining jeans to tear apart causing bad gravel rash.
Now these may be ok in town where ya more likely to get busted than slide... but its to easy to get comportable in them and head on out the open road.
    cheers DD

Thanks so much! Probably more like 12-14 here but I'd love to check out your knee protectors - planning to make it to the Wed night ride 20th Jan so maybe catch up with you then about seeing your gear!

Thanks for the info on Budget and also that's (sadly) what wanted to hear about Draggins - think they would be fine round town on a very hot day but don't think I'd wear them on the open road. Haven't had any slides of my own yet (unless you count going over the handle bars pulling over into a hard shoulder covered with gravel - my lovely tutor pulled over there on purpose to see what would happen) so can't imagine how hard the floor feels at even 50 k, let alone 100). Got hit by a Lada Riva as a 16 year-old pillion in a school skirt doing about 20 k - nice scar on the knee to prove it.

So leathers first, Draggins later I think...

It is a small world & you probably know some off the same people, including LaRikin, especially Guzzi people if you have had yours for a while.
