What normal person is up at this hour!

Ok up and readyish. I have a cup of coffee so thats a great start

I will try & post updates as I zoom around but I won't have lots of computer access so...meh.

It would be great to meet as many of you lads & ladesses as possible so gimme a text if ya wanna come for a ride (text # in my notes).

Thanks heaps to everyone who has helped and encouraged me. A lot of you have given me time & fixed my bike for very little or nothing and given me advice or just been enthusiastic and supportive!!

It was around this time last year I did my 1st long trip to Hamilton!

OYG! I can't believe it - they are playing Black Betty on the radio! I'll take that as a sign that we're gonna have a blast!!

    Oh Black Betty
    Bama Lamb

    Oh Black Betty
    Bama Lamb

    Black Betty had a child
    Bama Lamb

    The damn thing gone wild
    Bama Lamb

    Said weren't none of mine
    Bama Lamb

    The damn thing gone blind
    Bama Lamb

    I said oh Black Betty
    Bama Lamb

    Woh Black Betty
    Bama Lamb.

    Woh Black Betty
    Bama Lamb

    Woh Black Betty
    Bama Lamb

    She really gets me high
    Bama Lamb

    You know that's no lie
    Bama Lamb

    She's so rock steady
    Bama Lamb

    And she's always ready
    Bama Lamb

    Woh Black Betty
    Bama Lamb

    Woh Black Betty
    Bama Lamb.

    Woh Black Betty
    Bama Lamb

    Woh Black Betty
    Bama Lamb

    She's from Birmingham
    Bama Lamb

    Way down in Alabam
    Bama Lamb

    Well she's shakin' that thing
    Bama Lamb

    Boy she makes me sing
    Bama Lamb

    Woh Black Betty
    Bama Lamb

    Woh Black Betty
    Bama Lamb.

This normal person was up at 5.32am also but checking where the Cycle Classic was touring in the YRapa today so as to avoid that route!

Hey CSL: have a lovely time - we'll all be watching the weather forecasts and hope that those KBers you meet along the way will keep us posted with your progress.

Black Betty looks wonderful in her new livery - I know she'll do you proud down South!!

Take care and don't forget to have a coffee at Blast Cafe in Motueka (Richmond the owner has a Ducati!!)

Well Cath arrived in Nelson OK.
Coffee at my place then off to Takaka.
Lunch stop in Motueka at the Rolling Pin Bakery (My cousins place and he rides a Guzzi).
Off over the Hill and every car we came up behind pulled over and let us past!
Must have past about 20 odd bikes/bikers and only 2 didn't wave
We got to within 10k of Takaka and saw a guy in leathers running beside the road and a flash of red in a paddock.

    Rider Down!

While Cath was busy calling 111 I was over the fence into the paddock and it was not a pretty sight

Bits of red Ducati all over the place but fortunatly no bike blood was leaking.

Oh and there was a guy lying on his back 10m from the bike.

Injurys were mostly confined to the screen/side panels/blinkers and the battery came loose - The FOR SALE sign on the screen was a nice touch - may have to drop the price a bit now.

    Oh the rider (John)...
Looked like a broken collarbone as he'd landed on his right shoulder fairly hard. Helmet just grass-stained up.
Got his helmet off and got him comfortable and shaded.
Cop went straight past with his lights on following a Guzzi, he may have been looking for the accident site but he may have just hated Guzzi's (understandable of course).
Ambo arrived and then a doctor arrived (got a shock off the electric fence). The helicopter was in the air before they were told not to come so they came anyway.
Diagnosed as broken collarbone and probably 2 ribs.
    Mr Plod arrived.
    Second doc arrived.
    Helicopter arrived.
    Morphine arrived.

Just needed a bbq and it would have been sweet

John's mate (fellow KiwiBiker) got photos of all this
Got John into the helicopter and he was off.
A van had been orginised for the bike and Cath and I were off into Takaka.

On the way home I passed the van with the bike on the start of the hill and after that no-one pulled over for me all the way home :confused2
They only pull over for Cath?
    I don't smell or something do I?

Good to meet you Cath, have fun on the rest of your trip.
Hope it's not as exciting as this though...
