Onto Oamaru for a hot shower, roast lamb and a good catch up with some dear friends. I'm only going to Dunedin today but tomorrow oe Thursday my sister & I will go for a bit of a ride down South to visit some of you KBers from down those parts.

PM and we can sus out a meeting day/time. Until I get to Dunedin I won't know which day we're heading down and it will just be a day trip.

The bike is going so well. Cruising along very nicely at 120 some parts (oh the speed!!!). Most annoying thing that happened yesterday was getting stuck behind some ignorant wanker in an older model Subaru crusing up the Lindis Pass at 70!!! He wouldn't pull over at all. Grrrrrrrrrr.

Beautiful, gorgeous, lovely & stunning...breath taking actually. It was so amazing noticing the contrast in terrain & vegetation from The Haast Pass through to the Lindis Pass. I had a smile on my face for a lot of the way yesterday as I recalled years earlier (before I ever owned a bike) thinking how awesome it would be to zoom along the Lindis Pass on a motorbike! And now I have! Wow!!

I noticed by the end of yesterday I really needed spme compnay b/c I had started tooting at the cows & bulls as I rode passed to keep myself amused. Tee hee!!!

Ok better go. Hope to see some more of you soon & here's hoping my photos have worked out.

Fantasic thread CSL, I'm sittin at my pooter the other side of the world with my map out following your progress with envy. Best way to learn the geography What was the route from Banks to Fox btw, I guess it had to be Arthurs Pass then SH6.

It also drives home how changeable the climate can be and the difference either side of the Southern Alps. 31 degrees is way too hot for cordura, but also can be too wet for leather. What do you do, wear leather and carry light waterproofs?

Have a safe and enjoyable trip, and I'm looking forward to the next installment.

    Wish you days

    Thumbs up Meetin'and greetin'the locals.

Today my sister (Lulu) and I rode down to meet Scum Dog (HAPPY BIRTHDAY! ) - we were not dissapointed! Hospitality & friendliness abounded from SD & his wife Chrissie Bimbo (thanks!), also met Jantar.

Once we had sat around talking shite having bickies and coffee we decided to head down to Kaka Point for lunch. It was pretty windy and but a great place for lunch and more talking of shite.

Then we headed back to Balclutha and said goodbye to SD & CB, Jantar and I headed to...Beaumont (??) and Lulu headed home. Lulu hadn't been out riding for a bout 3 months so the ride to Balclutha was enough for her and the XR250.

Jantar and I stopped in Lawrence for a coffee...I must say the barister had an interesting way of making lattes but it was drinkable.

Sadly I didn't get to meet the mighty Mongoose as he hadn't managed to pull a sickie to see him (sopme peopoe have no priorities!).

Great to meet you and hope to see you again soon! :spudwave:

    Talking Rain, rain go away!

Well today I rode from Dunedin to Christchurch.

There was rain, interupted by showers and down pours...not to metion the side spray from the big rigs going in the opposite direction. Not to worry I made in time for my cousins bridal shower and had a lovely hot shower.

My holiday is almost at an end and I don't wanna go home!! Booooo hoooooo!!

There was a lot of traffic on SHW 1 today (my chosen route b/c I had a destination and a time to be there) but, no nutters. The bike is going supremely well and I know it won't be long before I'll be hankering for another trip.

Ok I better go and be sociable.

Looking forward to catching up with ya'll when I get back.

All in all a very good effort CSL, and I know what ya mean about the spray from trucks... and there seems to be one every 30esc's on that streach of rd, the last Brass I went to it was like that comming back when passing the trucks it was a compleat white out for a few seconds fingers crossed stuff.
    cheers DD

I had to drive down to Oamaru in the pouring rain once. Passing trucks going the same way as me was quite dangerous, even when using the passing lanes. Once I got along side a truck I couldn't see the end of the bonnet or the road markings. Bloody scary!
Glad you've enjoyed the trip CSL. Sorry more of us didn't ride with you to Akaroa, rather than just hooning off, but the road was calling...

Thursday was a really good ride down to Balclutha to meet up with CSL Lulu, Scumdog and CB. Great company, and I'm envious of SD's cage collection.

CSL and I had a fun ride back along side the Clutha river between Clydevale and Beaumont, then a short hop down to Lawrence for coffee.

Take care for the rest of your trip CSL, and I hope the rain you've experienced over the last two days doesn't bother you on the way back to Wellington. :spudwave:
    Time to ride
