    Choppa R2

    ROUND 2 ACTRIX WINTER SERIES, MANFIELD SHORT TRACK

    QUALIFYING:

    SUPERSPORT;

    I got out on the track as soon as possible to try set a good time but by the time I got going I was coming up on a lot of lapped riders so I couldn’t get a decent clear lap also I was getting a few front end slides, I managed to qualify 5th good enough for a second row start.

    SUPERBIKE;

    I managed to get a new tyre fitted before the start of the session but it there wasn’t enough time to get it warm so the first few laps were left to getting the new front up to temp and scrubbed in, this put me at the back of the field and having to contend with slower riders while trying to put in a fast time.
    I qualified 7th still on the second row but with 2 second row qualifying positions the rest of the day was going to be a battle

    RACE;

    SUPERSPORT RACE 1;

    I got away to a good start from the second row but I got squeezed out by Sam and Nick, I came out of the first corner 4th behind Sam Nick and Johnny. Johnny and I started dicing only to have Jamie Galway smoke us both in one straight, this was really the first time I had ridden with any other 600s apart from Johnny in testing and it really showed how far out we were with our gearing! I passed Johnny for 4th but was unable to catch Jamie so I settled for 4th

    RACE 2;

    Again I got off the line well however so did everyone else! I followed Sam Nick and Johnny again then exactly as had happened in the first race Jamie flew past down the back straight! Determined to not let him beat me again I shot up the inside of both him and Johnny on the infield hairpin, Jamie followed suit and past Johnny then blasted me on the straight again! We must have gone backwards and forwards at least another 3 times and I held out for 3rd place.
    3RD OVERALL

    SUPERBIKE RACE 1;

    This was a cruzy race for me unfortunately, I got an ok start but got blasted by a couple of bigger bikes. I got in behind Johnny and made a move on him into the middle hairpin around mid race distance and finished the race in a lonely 8th place

    RACE 2

    Being a 12 lap race this turned into a bit of a consistency race as 2 riders went down effectively handing me 5th place but it wasn’t all done and dusted as I pushed Johnny all the way to the line passing him a few times however the inside line would give me a disadvantage on the straight and he would get back by, I finished 5th for 5th equal overall

    I am very happy with my results it has moved me into 3rd overall in both catagories and I know I have atleast another second a lap up my sleeve for next round so I can get in there and challenge for some race wins!

    Good stuff CHOPPA. I expect you'll be even better next time with decent gearing and a bit of track knowledge.
