Well, yeah, but it's one thing to know that you can use your horn as a warning device and another to actually use it early enough. What I tend to do is go, "He must have seen me. Surely he must have seen me. SURELY he must have seen me. Blaaaaaaaaaaap/swerve/brake." So use the horn early, politely if you can manage it, at the "He must have seen me" stage.
And there are people who say that horns are of little use in an emergency because they distract you from avoiding the crash. (But they're wrong.)
So, howdamnhard's advice is all good IMHO. I see yourand raise you a

Usually dont have time to toot at them, too busy twisting the throttle to get out of the way ! Sometimes so quickly my legs (left in that occasion) fly up with the g force and my boot sometimes (accuracy is everything) smashes into the wing mirror of the car (accidentally of course) !
Funny thing is this smashing sound seems to have the same effect as tooting the horn !
Seriously though yr prolly lucky ya caught sight of his indicator, or that he did just that, indicate and wasn't a lane jumper !
A girlfriend once asked " Why is it you seem to prefer to race, than spend time with me ?"
The answer was simple ! "I'll prolly get bored with racing too, once i've nailed it !"
Bowls can wait !
Ha,ha very good.Twisting the throttle works well with more powerful bikes but lets say the GN250 is a little lacking in that department, hence me looking to upgrade.Yes seeing his indicator definitely gave me more time but I try not rely on indicators as most drivers think they are for decoration, normally the large chunk of metal moving into my lane queues me in.

Yeah ! but if ya in the middle of three lanes , cars either side, odds are both drivers never use thier indicators ! Its like walking into the open in a paintball game, if ya make a habit of it, ya gonna get pinged on a gn !
Sounds like your perifivial vision works mate ! As i said in another thread ya have to practise using ya perifivial sooo much more, almost looking at ten points of view at once !
Its prolly why ya hear so much from cage drivers, about bikes carving them up ! Well sometimes ya cant help yaself, its like dodging them paint balls when ya do have the power haha ! No sooner are ya past the first possible threat, waiting to see the next driver look in his mirror to see your there, a gap opens and its ahhh f**k it and ya gone past him.
Whats he gonna think ? That you were doing 130 k the whole time and just flew past him ! Not that you were just sitting on his tail for 30 seconds but he never saw ya, and so became a threat !
Riding a gn, i'd be finding someone safe that uses his mirrors and hug him lol, other cars wont hit him cause they've seen him and if your his shadow, well hello!
As i pointed out in said other thread, driver mentallity is to look in their mirror for a 5' wide grille. That driver you had a near miss with may have even seen you, but subconsously it didn't register. But then of course we all know how big a blind spot some cars have ???? (by your comments i'd say you do, but ya read so many threads by noobs abusing car drivers for not seeing them)
I say it's rider responsibillity to be SEEN, make sure their indications have been SEEN, even if it takes a toot of the horn to make them look in the mirror !

Agreed,I often use a cage in front of me as a buffer at intersections.I also try ensure I have an escape route.Cagers are programmed to only register other cagers, often bikes are just to small to feature on their subconscious radar.Presuming they havenīt seen you is best.Often they have seen you when you have right of way and go anyway, thinking to themselves Ļ well your going to hurt more than meĻ.Same attitude trucks have with cagers.Going to upgrade to something bigger,I prefer having the extra option of twisting the throttle to escape.
