    North Shore 250s

    Hi all,
So I've recently got my licence, gear and a bike ('06 GN250). I've been really enjoying it for the last few months, but suburbs and industrial areas don't make for a challenging ride. I was after some advice from some other 250 riders on the North Shore, just in regards to some good roads to practice on. Hopefully a nice quiet road with some decent corners.

Also are there any meet ups/group rides for beginners in Auckland?

The North Shore is a great place to learn to ride........ lots of long stretches of road and also lots of hills and tight corners if you go looking for them. I live in Glenfield and there is every kind of road you can think of out this way. I particularly found the "stop" signs at the top of steep hills quite a good challenge...especially if you are waiting behind other cars. Its a real good way to practice your brake, clutch, throttling. Archers road and hillcrest area are pretty good for that.

AWNMR is well worth attending mate.

But stay away from the ATNR.

Sure fire way to loose your license.

SH16, Coatesville-Riverhead are awesome, although my driveway took the longest to master, it's claimed 3 newbies so far.

Yup, as Gubb said the AWNR is a great ride for learners. From the gas station we do the Coatesville-Riverhead road which is always a bit of fun. So i'll see you there if you come!

SH16 is also a good stretch of road, up to Wellsford, then Wellsford to Managawhai. 3-5 hour ride I think.

Then there's Woodcocks road if you get a bit more confident, lots of tight corners, just be a bit careful in the wet cause they get slippery.. specially under the shade of trees.

Scenic Drive to Piha beach is also a nice short blat. Most roads to the beachs are actually..

    Huia road,

SH 22 to Raglan is also a really good one.

There's quite a few.. just drop down a post in the 250 section if you ever wanna go for a ride some weekend and i'm sure a few 250 riders will show up. And a few Thou's and 650's who wanna confirm their cock size haha! Just kidding Kyle..

    Three?!

Who else was claimed by the mighty relentless force of your driveway?

    I see....

No doubt they'll have fun on your new driveway as well...
