Have missed alot of these meetings cos every bloody week theres something wrong with the "trusty" GN ..This week i have a slow leak on the rear. suppose i need to upgrade from the standard tires anyway.

So, Im wanting to trade the GN in for a sportier 250cc bike. Any ideas where i can trade??? i have some cash and dont mind the rest on HP....

ps have a good, safe ride tonight..hope to join you guys when i get the GN sorted or i have a sportier bike.cheers

Hey bro, Choco is selling his 250 hornet. Check out his listing in the online trading section. Hornets are such great bikes and enough horsepower to keep you happy for a while

There's a very simple economical rule for this.

Never utilise higher purchase on a depreciating asset.

Save your money, get the tyre's sorted on the GN.

If it's your only method of transport to get to work and it is beyond affordable repair, then maybe. But otherwise i'd say save your money..

Essentially, you're going to lose alot of money on a trade in, specially for a trade in. Stick it on Trade Me, not really the season for buying motorbikes, but heaps and heaps of people are getting into motorcycling recently, and a GN is the perfect beginner's bike.

This is all considering money matters to you.. I've heard many a time, money is no object, there's always higher purchase... Being in debt is not a position you want to be in at this moment in time.

    ---

Otherwise, good to see a few of you on wednesday, it's been a long time.

Not so sure about a depreciating asset there Josh... There is the potential for getting burned, but if you do it smart you can get away okay.
Both my 250's were bought from a dealer, so naturally i payed a little more than i should have.
Got my GN for $2900 ex demo. Rode it for a bit under a year, thrashed the shit outta it, went to cape reinga and back twice, rode everywhere with the throttle on the stopper, wheelied it like hell, threw it across carparks etc. Traded it in with the dealer on my next bike for $2500 (could probably have got 3 grand if i sold it on TM and had the time to wait etc.)
$400 bucks for a year and about 18000k on it, not bad in my books.
Got the 250 Hornet for $6k with around 5,000km on the clock (fresh import) and rode the hell outta that. Doubled those km's in the first month, and didnt slow down. Rode that thing to its limits and then some. Sold that for $5,800 within 4 days of listing it on TM.
Couldve easily got my $6k back if i held out, or pressed a harder bargain, but i was happy to let it go for that, cause i literally got my flatmate to drive me 7h down the country right then to pick up a my new bike (my current Hornet 900) that afternoon for $6k

I dont know whether i've got lucky, or whether it is to be expected though, so mine may not be a typical story. Also depends on any damage too i guess, i kept my bikes as mint as i could (couple of drops and that's about it)

Personally i found the jump from a GN to a Hornet 250 a fairly good step. It was a little intimidating at first, but it set me up very well for stepping up to a bigger bike when the time came.
Also, i knew it was time to upgrade from the GN. I had mastered it, i could ride better than it could handle, and i was getting myself in trouble. It was only a matter of time before it was major trouble instead of silly things in carparks, so i'm glad i did it when i did. In the end, it all comes down to what you want to do, all the best with whatever that may be

    Hi everyone,

Just got my Bandit so would be pretty keen on having a look at one of these sessions.. I'm in Albany too so the Noel Leeming car park is just up the road from me (presuming it's the Albany Mega Centre one?)
Will it be on this Wednesday?? Will definately be there, IF my uni assigment is handed in on time haha

    Cheers

Sounds like these night would be right up your alley mate!
Yup, the noel leeming carpark at the albany mega centre, there's like a pet store and a postie plus there (i think?), up the hill a bit from the burger king, across the road from the pak n save

Will definitely be on, but depending on turnout and just how attrocious the weather is as to how much practice is done!

cheers guys for you advice. In the weekend i test rode the hornet, bandit, gsx and cbr. I found that the cbr or bandit was an overall best bike for me, however still not quick enough. Lately i been riding around on my mates cbr900. ( fucking awesome by the way ) This is what made me think about tranding in initially.

I will sell the gn privately because the trade in price came to 970 ( fuck that )

As for finance, i will try not too. However,Credit cards are good now these days. 12% pa, 65 days intreset free. Dunno!!!
